Perhaps the first and best psychedelic band the Elevators were fronted by the wild vocalist Roky Erikson who was provided with mind bending lyrics by the mysterious mind of Tommy Hall. Recorded live at the Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco in September 1966, Texan psychedelic legends are in top form here, racing through numbers later included on "Psychedelic Sounds" plus covers of Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and The Beatles. Sound quality on this recording is not the best in the world, but it is the best live fragment left from this extraordinary period in the bands history.

European release of Volume 2 in the "Texas Rock Music Heritage" (volume 1 covering the Moving Sidewalks) This 2 CD set features 48 tracks including a whopping 7 that have never before been released from the masters including tracks by The Spades' and early recordings by Roky ; "Peace (take 1), "Peace (take 2)", "I Love the Blind Man" and "No Fuss". The second CD features 14 tracks recorded live from the"Sump'n'Else" show 1966 at the WFAA - TV staion in Dallas and another 4 tracks recorded live at the New Orleans Club in Austin TX again in 1966. This fine package also comes with a 12 page full colour booklet with great sleeve notes and photos. The sound quality of this release is fantastic!
