Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O - St. Captain Freakout & Magic Bamboo Request. CD. (Ektro - EKTRO15)

Debut release for Japanese acid freaks on the Finnish Ektro label home of Circle. Another dangerously psychedelic melting pot of alien quality it's the usual selection of tripped out acid rock/space rock mayhem with a nod towards Zappa's Lumpy Gravy in the cut and paste way it's edited. The artwork mixes influences from Sgnt. Pepper, The Mothers Of Invention and The Stones "At Their Satanic Majesties Request".

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O - Minstrel In The Galaxy. CD. (Riot Season - REPOSEC 7)

The first AMT studio release (2004) since the departure of much loved vocalist/synth goddess Cotton Casino earlier this year. While there wasn't a dry eye in the house when we heard the news of Miss Casino's departure we are deleriously happy to report that AMT have recruited the astounding Japanese duo Afrirampo (recent touring buddies of Sonic Youth) to replace Cotton, and their presence fills the void with gusto. This album is a much darker affair than one may have come to expect from the guitar freakouts layering many recent AMT LPs. Drones and misplaced vocals aplenty, this album presents AMT in comedown mood, and the guitars here are of the acoustic variety. There is still enough of the original AMT sound to go around here but also there are enough twists to hopeful bring this hard working and stunningly inventive collective to a whole new audience. Dig the Tull-tastic punning of the title too!!
