Artist Listing : Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto (10 products)

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Private Tapes Vol. 9. CDR. (AMT - AMTPD 24)

Wow! Any fan of Acid Mothers Temple knows that these solo recordings by Makoto are virtually a holy grail, ridiculously difficult to find and reaching hideous prices on eBay. They present Makoto outside of the collective where he is given time and space to develop his meditative solo music to the point of ecstasy and back. This volume contains (like most) one extended track recorded live at Blue Monk in Osaka on which Kawabata plays bouzouki, electric sitar and electric guitar.Housed in a mini LP style sleeve. Essential!

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Jellyfish Rising. CD.

On 'Jellyfish Rising' Kawabata distances himself from the drones which dominated much of his earlier solo output. This album is comprised of two long minimalist compositions for (and on) guitar, which are realized with the help of reverb and delay units. The music is strongly reminiscent of the synthesizer experiments from early Krautrock-days (Klaus Schulze, Neu!, Brian Eno), and the minimalist compositions of Terry Riley, especially his piece "In C" (which AMT interpreted on an album a few years ago).

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Kawabata Makoto/Richard Young. CD.

These duets show ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE leader Kawabata and Glasgow librarian (seriously!!) Young in a relaxed, yet psychedelic mood. Throughout the 5 untitled tracks, simple modal melodies are performed on acoustic guitar, autoharp, organ, voice and other instruments.

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - I'm Here Still Now. CD. (Ochre Records - OCH041LCD)

"I’m Here Still Now" is Acid Mothers Temple head guru Kawabata Makoto's third album release for Ochre Records. Recorded live at La Chapelle in Toulouse, France on 9th June 2002, it can probably best be described as a guitar symphony! Those familiar with Makoto's solo work will probably already be grinning from ear to ear at the thought of another of his extended, improvised live pieces, this time performing on electic guitar and sarang. The clouds of noise and delicate electronic sounds Makoto can conjur from his instruments is nothing less than breath taking and we can trust this is another gem.

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - I'm In Your Innermost. CD. (Ochre Records - OCH035LCD)

Originally released as a limited (and long deleted) 100 copies only vinyl pressing in the USA on Eclipse Records back in December 2001. This is the first time "I’m In Your Inner Most" has been released on CD and includes a bonus remix of the track ‘Osculation’. "I’m In Your Inner Most" was recorded in October of 2000 by Kawabata (electric organ, electric harpsichord, violin, percussion, tambura and electronics) and is complimented by Audrey Ginestet (voice, cosmos). Another graceful and stunning solo recording from the guru.

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Your Voice From The Moon. CD. (Vivo - VIVO2005018CD)

A 2006 solo CD by Acid Mothers Temple mastermind Kawabata Makoto. 3 tracks full of modulated analogue synthesizer sound that lead to spacious and hypnotic improvisations. Yes folks, these are shimmering meditations/audio hallucinations and illustrate just how stunning Makoto is as a solo guitarist/instrumentalist.

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Private Tapes Vol. 8. CD. (AMT - AMTPD 26)

Finally we've got our hands on these ridiculously difficult to come by recordings. The name gives you a suggestion of just how limited these are (200 copies) but not the quality of these beauties. Usually only seen on the Acid Mothers website (and usually sold out) or bought from the man himself at gigs these are experimental long-form recordings which illustrate just how stunning Makoto is as a solo guitarist/instrumentalist. The shining light of AMT shines just as bright solo. Volume 8 is a 40 minute track of bowed electric guitar. Mind-blowing stuff housed in a mini LP paper sleeve.

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Inui. CD. (VHF - VHF 95)

Long-planned reissue of Kawabata's first solo LP, from way back in 2000 (or roughly 100 releases ago, in Kawabata terms). Originally released by the mighty SIWA label in a tiny, hand-printed edition of 300, this has long been the most sought-after Kawabata item, pretty much impossible to track down without a wallet full of eBay slush funds. The music, as on all the releases in Kawabata's Inui series, is intensely personal and introspective, with long, softly focussed tracks featuring acoustic stringed instruments from around the globe (including violin, sarangi, oud, sitar, bouzouki, lyra, shou, and nei). French filmmaker, musician and longtime ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE collaborator AUDREY GINESTET lends her crystal voice to the album opener, "Shin." This new, limited reissue is packaged in a fabulous multi-colour, hand-screened mini-gatefold printed by ALAN SHERRY of SIWA.
