Alice Cooper - Pretties For You/Easy Action. CD. (Progressive Line - PL602) At long last. The first two albums by the Nightmare himself, back in the days when the name referred not just to Mr Vincent Furnier but the entire band, who had previously been a mock British Invasion band called the Spiders, also known as Nazz before Todd Rundgren's outfit. At the time, Alice Cooper were considered the most way-out band in their adoptive home town of Detroit (Christ alone knows what their birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona made of them) and were among the first signings to Frank Zappa's Straight label, old FZ recognising a fellow freak spirit when he saw one. These albums are (despite what some people say) deeply psychedelic, off-the-wall, garagey affairs, swamped with Anglophile whimsy ( as shown on 'Fields Of Regret' 'Shoe Salesman' and 'Laughing At Me') proto-prog Hammond thrashing ('Levity Ball' 'Lie Down And Die Goodbye' '10 Minutes Before The Worm') bubblegum harmonies (check out 'Living' 'Today Meuller' or 'Mr And Misdemeanour') and vaudevillian theatrics ('Beautiful Flyaway'). There's even an embryonic version of 'Elected' (here entitled 'Reflected') that shows the direction the band would later take, but by and large these albums bear little or no sonic resemblance whatsoever to the Alice Cooper that would rear its ugly mascara'd head a year later with the Bob Ezrin-produced theatrical hard rock of 'Love It To Death'. Here they appear for the first time on a 2fer 1 CD, and we're pleased to say that 35 years on, they still enthrall and fascinate. Do not miss.

Contains the stomping "Big Apple Dreamin", "Hard Hearted Alice" and the wonderful "Teenage Lament 74", plus 'The Man With the Golden Gun' featuring Liza Minnelli on backing vocals!). Booklet features lyric sheets and the original colour inserts. Last album to feature the Alice Cooper group.

Alice Cooper - Pretties For You. CD. (Straight Records - 7 73362-2) The first Alice album, released in 1969 has a weird psychy acid rock feel, and was a precursor to the later more commercially successful albums. An eclectic mixture of late '60's rock music it includes trippy acid guitar work and layered harmonies very much in the style of the period. Certainly more Stooges and MC5 than Glam.....

Alice Cooper - Live In Toronto 1969. CD. This live album captures the Alice Cooper group at the start of their career, and demonstrates a more bluesey psychedelic/jam influenced set than the later hard hitting rock releases. Recorded in 1969 at the Rock ‘n’ Revival Show at the University Of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium alongside John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band, The Doors, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino. Chuck Berry and Gene Vincent. The album and includes material from his first two albums and a crazy cover version of "Ain't That Just Like A Woman".

Alice Cooper - Easy Action. CD. (Straight Records - PL550) The second album from 1970 contains more quality psychy rock tunes from the band who would unfairly be lumped in with the glam rock Seventies scene. Alice was always more about psyche rock than anything else and this album certainly reflects that. A bit of an undiscovered classic that was released on Frank Zappa's Straight Label

The advanced multi channel surround sound mix is out of this world (as were the group at this time). Bonus features include interviews about the making of this shock rock classic and the politics of the time and 5 live tracks from 1973. It can be played on all DVD players. Alice Cooper - Live At The Cabo Wabo '96. CD. (EMI - 3349932) Live concert from the Alice Cooper band, not released until 2005. A fine release for long term Cooper fans because, as well as the usual numbers that he legally has to play (probably), Alice throws some more obscure tracks like "Teenage Lament '74", "Desperado" and some '80's era numbers like "Feed My Frankenstein." A great rocking performance by the group, this back to basics approach is gonna thrill Alice fans.

Alice Cooper - Live In Montreaux (High Definition). DVD. (Eagle Vision - ERHDD1004) High definition DVD release of Alice live in 2005. The vastly improved picture and sound quality is a revelation. Includes classics like: "Poison", "School's Out", "Billion Dollar Babies" and "Only Women Bleed."

Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet / Dragontown. Dble CD. (Snapper - SMDCD584) Two 21st Century albums in one package. One of rock’s most iconic and revered stars for over 40 years, the man has lost none of the spark that make his live stage shows so outrageous and has earned him the title of godfather of horror rock.
