All My Loving - Various. DVD.
(Label: , Cat.No: )

Click for large image With abnormal narrative and reserved diction, Palmer plays a psychotherapist rather than journalist, allowing for an uncanny, introspective look into the souls of Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and Pete Townshend to name a few. McCartney and Jimi’s levity brighten up the screen while Zappa and Townshend balance out the film with gravity and angst. In all, this film’s delivery was perfect, forcing audiences to do nothing but shut the hell up and listen.Bonus features include a comprehensive sit down, tell all interview with Tony Palmer, tying a knot in any loose ends you may encounter during the film.

Tom Lucas - Lifeboats. CD.
(Label: New Fate Productions, Cat.No: )

Click for large image Previously unknown second album by this US underground singer songwriter originally issued in 1983. The tight band is well produced and giving the record a high quality sheen without compromising its grittier strengths. Musically it bears some comparison with US singer songwriters such as early Bruce Springsteen or Neil Young or even Lou Reed! At times he veers off in experimental directions that really surprise. Lifeboats is filled with songs that make some deep political and social observations gathering dark emotional depth from some excellent piano arrangements and tasteful guitar solos. An entertaining second shot now officially reissued.

Neil Young - Chrome Dreams II. CD.
(Label: Reprise Records, Cat.No: 9362499171)

Click for large image Neil Young continues his recent flood of creativity that has yielded the widely acclaimed albums 'Greendale', 'Prairie Wind' and two 'Living With War' sets. Produced by Neil Young with Niko Bolas at Feelgood's Garage studio near Redwood City, California, Young is backed by Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina, pedal steel guitarist and dobro player Ben Keith ('Harvest', 'Comes A Time', 'Harvest Moon') and bassist Rick Rosas ('Freedom', 'Living With War', 'This Note's For You').

New Riders Of The Purple Sage - Oh What A Mighty Time. CD.

Click for large image 1975 album and their last for CBS Records, featuring Jerry Garcia, Skip Battin and Sly Stone. Digitally remastered and slipcased. Featuring: "La Bamba", "I Heard You’ve Been Layin’ My Old Lady", "Over And Over" and "Up Against The Wall, Redneck."

Redwing - Redwing. CD.
(Label: Fallout, Cat.No: FOCD2074)

Click for large image This album makes its long-overdue CD debut here, showing Redwing to be an excellent, unfairly neglected piece of the early 1970s Californian musical jigsaw. They’d made an earlier psych-pop album as Glad, featuring Timothy B Schmit, (later of Poco and the Eagles), and when he departed they regrouped and put together this classy collection of gritty rock and roll. It was much-praised on its original release in 1971, but despite gigging alongside acts including Delaney & Bonnie, Deep Purple, the Steve Miller Band, and releasing four further LPs the band never got the commercial breakthrough they deserved.

Smith - Minus Plus. CD.
(Label: Second Harvest, Cat.No: SH402)

Click for large image Digipack reissue of 2nd album from 1970 by West Coast band from L.A. who's sound is characterised by Gayle McGornick's great voice and the act which featured on the the Ezy Rider Soundtrack

ZZ Top - Eliminator. CD.
(Label: WARNER BROS / CINRAM, Cat.No: 7599237742)

Click for large image ZZ Top's ninth studio album truly captured the mood of the times. Released as MTV was learning to crawl, the videos of the Lone Star trio's droll, masculine anthems were staples on the nascent music channel, making the world think that all the women in Texas looked like Jerry Hall--which wasn't far from the truth in 1983. And even if it wasn't completely accurate, listeners could at least visit a world where both cars and woman were fast and available. Billy Gibbons's roaring guitar licks streaked across songs with the speed of a young Hendrix. Even though the lyrics are often ham-fisted, all is forgiven for the pleasure of just letting the ZZ Top locomotive mow you down. While "Gimme All Your Loving," "Legs," and the satirically dynamic "Sharp Dressed Man" ruled the airwaves, the real gems here are the thundering "I've Got the Six" and the equally bombastic "Bad Girl," which showcase's Dusty Hill's heart-stopping drumming and Frank Beard's sturdy bass. Eliminator also marks the first time that the rough-and-tumble outfit turned to studio wizardry to goose up their meat-and-potatoes boogie. And while some early fans may have been dismayed, truth be told, their new studio sophistication added finesse and depth to ZZ Top.
