This CD has been remastered from the original master tapes by the engineer at the club Rudy Van Gelder to create the best possible representation of Art Blake live. Lee Morgan, Bobby Timmons and Wayne Shorter were all rising stars who would go on to become band leaders on their own in the near future; with this sort of backing Art leads a storming performance. A great collaborative effort, every member contributes one song each; everyone shares the solos on this Hard Bop, Swing exercise with strong elements of gospel and the blues. Surprisingly when this CD was re-released there where no extra tracks as the group were so sharp on th eday that they didn't even record any alternative versions or outtakes.
