Astrid Williamson - Day Of The Lone Wolf. CD. (One Little Indian - TPLP727CD) Third solo album from this greatly underrated UK singer-songwriter, formerly of the similarly underrated Goya Dress. Likened to everyone from Lisa Germano, Stina Nordenstam and Laura Veirs to Erik Satie and Daniel Lanois, Astrid's music is a surreal wash of soundscapes mixed with soul-bearing insensity and candid beauty. Definitely worth checking out. There was some schpiel on the sales 'one sheet' about her being endorsed by Julie Burchill, but you don't really want to know what that fat old slapper thinks do you? I thought not.
