Au Pairs - Live In Berlin. CD. (Essential - ESMCD452) The Berlin's Women's Festival in 1981 was the (suitably) politically correct venue for this righteous live album by Birmingham's feminist post-punkers. Lesley Woods' songs captured all the anger, frustration and idealism of the start of the anti-Thatcher movement.

Au Pairs - Playing With A Different Sex. CD. (RPM - RPM 107) One of the foremost '80s indie bands with two women - two men line up who set out to show that the sexes could work together in the rock business. All subject matter was tackled in a forthright manner from monogamy to political prisoners which gained them a huge reputation, along with their post punk funk sound. This CD includes the original album which charted in 1981, along with three singles including the infamous "Come Again", banned by Radio One.

Au Pairs - Sense & Sensuality. LP. (Cherry Red - RPM 111) Post-punk (1979/80) consciousness, dissonant, guitar-based rock with political overtures. This package includes the second part of the band's history written by Martin Aston, the whole of the second album, plus what remained of the abandoned third album. The addition of horns and imaginative synthesizers allowed for more satisfying sonic experience on their later songs.180 gram vinyl and Digitally re-mastered and especially re-mixed from the original master tapes

Au Pairs - Sense And Sensulaity (Remixed). CD. (Castle - CMRCD470) With their edgy blend of post-punk, politics and funk, the Au Pairs were critics’ favourites and cult heroes at the dawn of the 80s. This newly remixed reissue of their second and final album, accentuating their dancefloor potential, features sleeve-notes from guitarist Paul Foad.

Au Pairs - Shocks To The System - Very Best Of.... CD. (Cherry Red - CDMRED 161) An overdue round-up of one of the most committed and influential indie bands of the '70s / early 80s. Included on this album are the indie hit singles "You", "Diet", "It's Obvious" and "Inconvenience". There are also tracks taken from an unreleased third studio album. Labelled a 'feminist band' and a 'political group' the four-piece line-up produced a classic run of singles and vital live performances. The booklet includes a full discography and photos/memorabilia.

Au Pairs - Stepping Out Of Line- The Anthology. Dble CD. (Sanctuary/Castle - CMQDD1338) What more can be said about the Au Pairs? Well, quite a lot actually. They don't get written about enough, as none of them are dead and/or called Bob Dylan, so we at Freak Emporium feel it is our job to inform you that they were possibly the finest female fronted UK post-punk band (although feminist lesbian frontwoman Lesley Woods would abhor such a catagorisation) of all time, that they influenced everyone from Hole, the Go Gos and the Smiths to Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and that this double CD set, which features their complete recorded output (remixed in places) is an essential purchase for anyone with a love of post punk. Actually, scrap that- it's essential for anyone with a love of music per se. Disc 1 features both their seminal albums 'Playing With A Different Sex' and 'Sense And Sensuality', Disc 2 features non LP BBC sessions, unreleased tracks and demos, and live material. Compiled and reseached with the assistance of the band themselves: let's just hope people take notice this time!!
