Average White Band - Cut The Cake. CD. (Snapper - SMMCD 508)

After the death of drummer Robbie McIntosh, the UK band put out this album in 1975. An eclectic mixture of soul, funk and pop-rock, it further cemented their position as a tight ensemble that had been created from their huge hit "Pick Up The Pieces."

Average White Band - Greatest & Latest. CD. (CNR Records - CD22998782)

A great compilation of soul, funk, disco and pure groove from the Scots band, led by future McCartney sideman Hamish Stuart, who were possibly the closest (apart from maybe Kokomo) that a white UK act came to replicating the true sounds of those genres. Includes hits across a 16-year timespan, and includes two previously unreleased trax including a 'Nu Jazz Mix' (whatever one of those is) of their hit 'Work To Do'.
