Originally released on Crown in 1960, 'The Great BB King' featured a selection of this master bluesman's recordings from 1952 up till that year, including his big hit single on the R&B charts at the time, 'Sweet Sixteen'. This edition comes complete with eight bonus tracks, never before reissued in any format, among them 'Bim Bam' which was the cause of mucho controversy at the time as BB himself though he might have strayed a little too far towards rock'n'roll. Ironically, we now recognise as a given that if it wasn't for BB, half of what we call rock'n'roll wouldn't exist- and that, in itself, is yet another reason to own this album.
