Ballroom Beat Vol 2 - Try Me Out - Various. CD. (Psych Out Records - PCCD7016) 20 tempting portions of prime British Beat (1964-66) previously uncomped on CD. The music contained within is a bit more all-embracing than the hard-rocking R&B which emanated from smoky blues basements. What we have here is Volume 2, full of artistes who typify Saturday night in a provincial dance hall. You’ll find a Scottish band who only had records released in Germany, one of Brian Epstein’s less successful discoveries, two different early versions of King Crimson, a Coronation Street actor trying his hand at pop, and the band that would soon become Marmalade, plus, of course, a host of further delights.
