Combining the dark but unapologetically humane poetry of singer Johny Brown with the instrument action of Chris Brierley (violin) and Alfie Thomas (accordion, keyboards), they were critically adored and on the covers of several music papers and magazines in their 80's heyday. Drawing on a back catalogue of eight albums and a similar number of singles (most of it now out of print), this best of was put together by the band themselves.
