Band, The - A Musical Journey. 5-CD Set + DVD. (Capitol Records - 571 8790) The Band were one of the most popular and influential rock groups in the world. Starting as a band out of Canada (originally with rock'n'roller Ronnie Hawkins), they became Bob Dylan's backing band before eventually striking out on their own. This definitive collection has been executive produced by Robbie Robertson. On this 5CD + 1DVD set are 104 tracks, 29 of which are previously unreleased. The 14 track DVD includes footage from the Music Express tour of Canada, their historic final performance on Saturday Night Live and more. The collection is uniquely housed in a 108 page coffee table book, stuffed with previously unseen photos and memorabilia.

(Capitol Records - 5253912) Recorded in 1971, this was to be the Band's last studio album for four years and continues the theme of Stage Fright by emphasizing the false nature of show business and its impact on reality. Remastered with five extra tracks, an excellent radio commercial and a very comprehensive booklet which significantly strengthens the collection. This album amongst others contains "Life Is A Carnival," "When I Paint My Masterpiece" and "River Hymn."

Band, The - Moondog Matinee. CD. (Capitol Records - 5253932) This 1973 release is essentially, a look back in time when this band was known as 'The Hawks.' This collection of Rock &Roll and R&B covers, prove how versatile 'The Band' really were. Tracks include "Clarence "Frogman" Henry's "Ain't Got No Home," Chuck Berry's "The Promised Land," and Fats Domino's "I'm Ready," and six bonus tracks of outakes.

(Capitol Records - 5253942) This was the first album for four years from this Canadian, American Band, known also for their work with 'Bob Dylan' A real progression (the Band utilising 24 track desks and synths for the first time) from 'Cahoots' their previous album, this album is simply a joy to listern to. Tracks include "Acadian Driftwood," and "Rags & Bones."

Band, The - Rock Of Ages. Dble CD. (Capitol Records - 5301812) This new double CD version of 'Rock Of Ages' includes more tracks form the 1971-1972 New Years Eve/Day concert that this collection is taken from, with a generous collection of bonus tracks. The real jewel found in on this collection are the four tracks with "Bob Dylan." and Alan Toussaint horn arrangements.Tracks include, "Chest Feaver," "Rag "Mama Rag," and "Genetic Method."

Band, The - The Band Greatest Hits. CD. (Capitol Records - 5249412) Greatest Hits are an extremely hard thing to get right, especially for a band that graced the billboard with two top forty hits. This is one of those few circumstances when the label really do get it right. Tracks seem to be mostly favoured from the first two albums, which the fans will be happy about. Liner notes by Rob Bowman. Eighteen tracks including: "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Chest Fever", "The Shape I'm In" and "Tears Of Rage."

As always the playing is impeccable, the voice of Richard Manuel is as beautiful as ever. This version contains an alternate take of "Georgia On My Mind " which was released in 1976 to boost Jimmy Carter's run for presidency. Other tracks include, "Ain't That A Lot Of Love," and "StreetWalker."
