Barney Kessel - Blues For A Playboy. CD. (Five Four - FIVEFOUR25) Rated as the best by John Lennon, Phil Spector, Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix, American guitarist Barney Kessel brought much needed innovation to jazz in the midfifties and quality to the exploding sixties pop scene. His CV is supidly rich with hits, having played on Pet Sounds, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "I Got You Babe" and "Daydream Believer." This is a twenty track collection of recordings made in the early - mid '50s when he was a bandleader which show of his highly dextrous skills with his trusty piece of wood.
