Artist Listing : Beaver & Krause (2 products)

Beaver & Krause - All Good Men. CD. (CCM - CCM06422)

This 1972 record marked yet another change of direction for electronic music pioneers Paul Beaver and Bernie Krause, and a most unexpected one at that: a pop album! Or at least as close to pop as this duo would ever get, with a number of songs featuring vocals, spiced with Moog and even ragtime. A typically idiosyncratic end to their stay at Warner Bros. Includes 'A Real Slow Drag; Legend Days Are Over; Loves of Col. Evol; Sweet William; Bluebird Canyon Stomp; Looking Back Now; Prelude; Child of the Morning Sun; Between the Sun and the Rain; All Good Men', and 'Waltz Me Around Again Willie/Real Slow Drag'

Beaver & Krause - Nonesuch Guide To Electronic Music. CD. (CCM - CCM06432)

Conceived by Bernie Krause and Elektra label founder Jac Holzman on a plane ride to the Monterey Pop Festival, where Beaver & Krause were slated to demonstrate the newfangled Moog synthesizer, this double-album was true to its title, an instructional record on how to create electronic sounds using the Moog, complete with a 16-page 'syllabus' detailing signal generation, voltage control, modulation and filtering. And, as such, the record only included one actual composition, 'Peace Three'; the rest of the tracks had such titles as 'Triangular Waveform; White Sound Tuned Filters; Low-Frequency Sawtooth-Tuning Through Harmonics', and 'Series of Sub-Audible Constants'. Over the years, this 1968 release has for obvious reasons become quite the underground classic, an artifact from a time when anything in recorded music seemed possible and often was. Has to be heard!
