Black Sabbath - Born Again. CD. (Sanctuary Midline - SMRCD075)

1983 album featuring Deep Purple's Ian Gillan in Ronnie Dio/Ozzy's shoes. Tracks:- Trashed - Stonehenge - Disturbing The Priest - The Dark - Zero The Hero - Digital Bitch - Born Again - Hot Line - Keep It Warm. Not the greatest album by any means, but with hindsight an interesting experiment- general feeling is, it's a competent Metal record but it just doesn't sound like Sabbaf. Famous also for its accompanying tour with 'Stonehenge' monument which was so large it couldn't get inside most UK indoor venues. Sound familiar in a 'none more black' kind of way?

Black Sabbath - Eternal Idol. CD. (Sanctuary Midline - SMRCD077)

1987 album, with Sabbath's 3rd new vocalist in a row, Tony Martin (unless you count the other three that joined but never officially recorded). Still hard & heavy, but with a far more 'modern' sound. Tracks:- The Shining - Ancient Warrior - Hard Life To Love - Glory Ride - Born To Lose - Nightmare - Scarlet Pimpernel - Lost Forever - Eternal Idol. The start of stability for Sabbath again- aside from a laughable Clear Channel-instigated reunion with Dio in 1992, Martin would remain constant with the band until the return of Ozzy in the late 90s, thus making him ironically the vocalist who has recorded the second greatest number of albums with Sabbaf!!

Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell. LP. (Earmark - 41041)

180 gram vinyl pressing of the first album the group made when Ozzy left the band for the second time in 1979, he left a group whose internal disputes had reached sky high levels. However, the band was soon revitalized by the former Elf and Rainbow singer, Ronnie James Dio, who gave Iommi and Butler such good vibes and new input that BS released their best work since their early masterpieces. 1980's Heaven and Hell brought Black Sabbath a new battalion of younger fans and restored the energy they had started with in 1970. Tracks like the album opener, "Neon Knights," the almost gothic "Children of the Sea," and the title track set the new pace for the brand new giants of HR.

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules. CD. (Sanctuary Records - SMRCD073)

Ronnie James Dio's (twat) second Sabbath excursion (1981) was the band's most blatant encounter with satanic rock. Notable for the hit single title track, the frenetic "Turn The Light Up" and for the one-album-only percussion powerhouse of Vinnie Appice. Tracks:- Turn Up The Night - Voodoo - Sign Of The Southern Cross - E5150 - Mob Rules - Country Girl - Slipping Away - Falling Off The Edge Of The World - Over And Over.

Black Sabbath - Never Say Die. LP. (Earmark - 41033)

The 1978 album that saw Ozzy return to the Sabbath fold after having left the group on the previous tour. Although certain hardcore critics were unkind, at the time, there are some real gems here, such as the title track,Hard Road and 'Air Dance'. This is the closest the band got to prog. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. LP. (Earmark - 41012)

180 gram re-issue of Black Sabbath's 5th from1973 and this was essential Sabbath for any self-respecting fan and one of the genre's defining moments. Although the presence of Rick Wakeman of Yes on keyboards and Will Malone's string arrangements marked a slight change(more progressive) in direction for the band, the album (their fifth straight Top Ten million-seller) is still vintage Sabbath by anyone's standards. Featuring the classic title track and the deliciously synth filled "Sabbra Cadabra". Original beautiful artwork printed inner sleeve and PVC dust sleeve.

Black Sabbath - Sabotage. LP. (Earmark - 41028)

This classic 1975 album includes the superb "Symptom Of The Universe", featuring both Geezer Butler's writing at his best and an excellent performance by Tony Iommi. The rest of the album takes us down a new path marked by the sound evolution that began with 1973's Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath. Although tracks like "Thrill of It All", "The Writ" and "Megalomania" are still recognizably "Sabs", comprehensively this is an unorthodox album that dares to take hard rock into uncharted waters.Housed in a PVC dustsleeve.

Black Sabbath - Seventh Star. CD. (Sanctuary Midline - SMRCD076)

Tony Iommi's 1986 album with Glenn Hughes (ex-Deep Purple)... Still heavy, but with a blues influence. Tracks:- In For The Kill - No Stranger To Love - Turn To Stone - Sphinx (The Guardian) - Seventh Star - Danger Zone - Heart Is Like A Wheel - Angry Heart - In Memory. By now essentially a solo project, (in fact Iommi wanted this to be a solo album but the company insisted on calling it Sabbath) our Tone was still churning out slabs of quality hard rock, but the gap sonically between this and 'true' Sabbaf was really starting to show. Lineup also includes Geoff Nicholls (keyboardist since Heaven and Hell) Dave Spitz (brother of ex-Anthraxer Dan) and future Kiss/Alice Cooper stixman Eric Singer. FACT: Glenn Hughes quit during this tour because he wasn't allowed to play bass ('too funky'-Iommi) and, not helped by vast quantities of drugs, went to pieces trying to sing without an instrument! Some people. . .
