The fourth Blue Cheer album from 1969 saw personnel changes and a move towards a slightly more mellow approach. The hard rock ethos was still very well represented, but the emphasis appeared to be more on melodic laid back structured rock, rather than the heavy onslaught of previous outings. On their last studio album from 1970, Blue Cheer had mellowed out considerably with the further involvement of ex-Kak guitarist Gary Yoder. 'Oh! Pleasant Hope' is an extremely cool album of West Coast styled melodic psych/rock, which had a fine groove all its own, including experiments with Indian instruments. It's almost Kak's second album!... Now housed by Akarma in a mini-card LP sleeve !
