Bobb Trimble - Harvest Of Dreams. CD. (Secretly Canadian - SC163)

Official CD release for this '80s recording, although it has often been said of this highly personal and unusual album, it is music very much of its own time. Musically, the album flits from '60s-style pop to '80s new wave with psychedelic and folk-rock influences also much in evidence, but it is Trimble's idiosyncratic vocal style (somewhere between Marc Bolan and Sparks, as one critic opined) that really makes this album stand out from the crowd. Trimble, who has been proclaimed by some as the purveyor of the greatest psych folk ever made, revels in sound effects ranging from echo to phasing and flanging, all of which are used to twist and distort his voice to create a trippy, ethereal mood augmented by curious interjections such as telephone dial tones, background talking, bouncing ping-pong balls, and even noises from the '80s video game, Defender. The sum total of these disparate parts is an album that defies description although to conclude that Harvest Of Dreams is solely an attempt by the artist to convey to the listener the often frightening sounds that reside within his soul are misplaced, as there's an up-beat message of hope and optimism running throughout. As one fan wrote "Within two seconds of my first listen to Bobb's music, I was transfixed and had that rare feeling that this was music that could change my life, "Pretentious", possibly, but any album capable of evoking such depth of feeling is ignored at one's peril. Highly recommended.4 bonus tracks.

Bobb Trimble - Jupiter Transmission. CD. (Parallel World - PW-CD1)

CD issue of stupidly rare mid-80s American psych album. Touted by some as the greatest psych folk ever. Bobb has a really strange wavering voice that's mixed in with psychedelic backwards guitar effects and cosmic mayhem. Some beautiful songs.

Bobb Trimble - Life Beyond The Doghouse. LP. (Orpheus Records - ORPH 005)

2002 Danish release of '80s recordings made by US psych-folkster . Some tracks are solo; some with a band (The Violent Reactions/The Crippled Dog Band) but all of them mixed and mastered in 2000/2001 in Denmark. Touted by some as the purveyor of the greatest psych folk ever made, this is a long overdue issue of rare recordings by Bob. Comes with informative insert.

Bobb Trimble - Iron Curtian Innocence. CD. (Secretly Canadian - SC162)

irst three songs on this album are as good as anything ; Trimble’s music is an utterly unique blend of melodic songwriting, gorgeous high vocals, overwhelmingly echoey and warbly production, synthesized guitar and fuzz guitar, and it’s mesmerizing and life-changing. Side two was recorded a few years earlier and is simpler in terms of production, but the songwriting is equally good. Over the years it has become apparent that this album has aged very well and is every bit as good as the more heralded second album. Trimble’s music is utterly timeless, utterly distinctive, and utterly beautiful. (Acid Archives) 3 bonus tracks.
