C.O.B. - Moyshe McStiff & The Tartan Lancers Of The Sacred Heart. CD. (Sunbeam Music - SBRCD 5029)

This stunning mystical folk album from 1972 by ex-Incredible String Band member Clive Palmer and friends, is one of the very best of its kind. Despite it's Eastern mystical leanings, there is little actually mystical about the origins of the record: 'Moyshe McStiff' is a reference to the Scots-Jewish lineage of one of the band members, and the 'Tartan Lancer' was their local off licence!! Nevertheless this remains one of THE key albums of the acid-folk boom, much loved by everyone from Stephen Malkmus of Pavement to David Tibet of Current 93, who covered 'The Song Of Solomon' on their 'Seven Seals' EP. Other key tracks include 'Chain Of Love' 'Brown Eyed One' and 'Martha And Mary', some of the most beautiful music of their era, and this edition adds their very rare (and stylistically out of place) single 'Blue Morning/Bones' from 1974, which leans towards reggae!! An essential purchase and now available with the following 7 bonus tracks "Falconer’s Glove", "Summer’s Night","Solomon’s Song",(version 2),"Child Of The Season","Sweet Spring", "Blue Morning" (non-album A-side)and "Bones" (non-album B-side).

Released in 1972 it's a haunting psychedelic folk album, drawing on western and eastern influences. Standout tracks: 'Martha And Mary' 'Brown Eyed One' 'Chain Of Love' 'Song Of Solomon'. Absolutely essential in every way possible. Now a sadly deleted Radioactive title.LAST FEW COPIES.

C.O.B. - Spirit Of Love. LP. (Tapestry Records - T220)

180 gram thick card sleeve vinyl reissue of the stunning first mystical, dreamy hippy folk album, by ex-Incredible String Band member Clive Palmer and friends. This was their debut album from 1971 superbly produced by Ralph Mctell. The final results are of sublime psychedelic proportions. 'Spirit of Love' is ancient and plaintive, more reserved (and thus more mysterious) than ISB. And it contains "Wade in the Water," surely one of the greatest tracks ever recorded!! Quite beautiful.Very limited.
