Eleven tracks from the BBC vaults from one of the most important Industrial/electronic bands. Contemporaries of other luminaries of the mid to late '70s electro-industrial genre, Cabaret Voltaire continued recording into the 90's. This collection of tracks is taken from their classic mid-'80s period recorded for the BBC's John Peel radio show and sound like a cross between their studio work and their live performances
Thirty six B-Sides, alternate/extended mixes, live performances and unreleased tracks from one of the most important Industrial/electronic bands. Packaged in a clam shell, with a thirty two page booklet. CD 3 is a live performance from Edinburgh, '90. One of British music's most enigmatic alternative bands, this is a great collection of gems. Includes: "The Web (12" Mix)", Cut The Damn Camera, "Freaks (Kerkovian 12" dub)" and "Positive ID (live)"
Leaders of the Industrial genre and one of British music's most enigmatic alternative bands, this is them performing live in 1979. Harsh minimalism and a stark outlook, you wouldn't expect this to work so well in frot of an adience during the middle of Punk. Capable of destroying a song or being very melodic and catchy, this is a great example of the great industrial pioneers at their best. Considering the limited equipment available at the time, this is a testament to their ingenuity. Nine tracks including: "Nag, Nag, Nag", "Baader Meinhof" and "Expect Nothing."

One of their strongest albums from 1983. Slowly wandering towards a more commercial sound they touch upon dub, synth pop (they were clearly a heavy influence on '80's bands) and ambience without losing their experimental edge. A healthy mix between memorable melodies and menacing synth sounds. Includes: "Why Kill Time (When You Can Kill Yourself)", "Badge of Evil" and "Talking Time."
Ten track best of featuring the 12" mixes from '83-'87. Covering tracks from the albums: The Crackdown, Micro-phonies, The Covenant, the Sword and the Arm of the Lord, the Drinking Gasoline EP, and Code, this is when Cabaret were really at their most influential. Virtually every synth band of the time seemed to be basing their sound on them and becoming more commercially successful. This is Voltaire mark two, the trio cut down to a leaner, colder dance duo hat would heavily influence the emerging techno trend sound. Includes: "Just Fascination", "James Brown" and "Thank You America."
Fourteen track compilation of the highly influential electronica group's early years as a three piece. Covering their Factory and Rough Trade period, the early stuff here is highly experimental and have no real structure before their post punk releases "Red Mecca" and "2 X 45." One of those groups where the compiler has struggled with what tracks to leave out from their prime period and still fit it into on CD. Includes: "Baader Meinhof", "Wait And Shuffle" and "This Is Entertainment."
Double CD that collects rarities and unreleased Cabs material from their entire career. Sources include flexidisc only fanzine tracks and sampler Eps.mixing between their early threatening synth experiments, industrial attacks and even some latin tinged numbers, there are a surprisngly high number of highlights amongst these tracks considering the band chose not to officially them on any albums or singles. At fifty minutes long, this is going to enthrall any Voltaire fan.
Highly regarded 1981 album by the Cabs, probably their most concentrated effort. Falling somewhere between all of their hardcore industrial, avant-garde noise, house and electronica experimetations, there isn't a duff track here. Opening and closing with distorted versions of the theme to Orson welles movieTouch Of Evil, they blend sinister soundscapes, vocal samples, underwater guitars/loops and tracks so violent and punchy you can actually dance to them! A hugely important album in the constant development of electronic music.
First released in 1982 on VHS, the Cabs first visual release makes its DVD debut. Part of a number of groundbreaking audio visual releases on the Double Vision label (started, unsurprisingly by the Cabs), it features fourteen representational videos of their late '70's, early '80's tracks such as "Nag Nag Nag", "Obsession", and "Diskono." Tying in with their experimental nature, these are not just promos showing the group miming along to a backing track but suitably left field art films.
Live performance recorded in Sheffield 1982 combined with limited edition '80's promotional EP 12". The live aspect shows off the Cabs at their most experimental and captivating while the EP has a relatively mature group creating some infectious disco/pop-style numbers. A great opportunity to experience both sides of the Cabs fantastic abilities. Track listing "Shakedown", "Whole Thing", 3. "Menace", " Electro Motive", "Shakedown (Alterative version)", "Shakedown (Dub)", "War Of Nerves", " Wait And Shuffle", "Get Out Of My Face" and "Vitrious China"
Live album recorded in Japan on the 23rd of May 1982, which is a prequel to the insane electro punk group that they became in the mid 80's, Don't expect a melodic outing many of the tracks performed are indulged with percussion noise and random sound effects. Tracks on this album include: "Taxi Music", Over & Over" and "Wall Of Kyoto".

Fifty three track compilation of unreleased stuff from the Cabs vaults. Ideal for those fascinated with the formation of their early sound. Considering how they stumbled upon their sound (distorted, damaged guitars, rhythm boxes and vocal samples) by them experimenting with early electronica instruments, it is surprisng how high quality and focused the tracks are (they don't go on for ever either, most don't reach four minutes). The sound quality of the unreleased stuff is excellent, as is the third CD of alternative mixes of classics. Includes: "Synthi Aks Piece Two", "Calling Moscow" and "Do the Mussolini (Headkick.)"
1979 debut album from the highly influential electronic post-punks. Their addictively primitive loops and beats formula works to scare and encapsulate the listener. Trying out dub, early industrial and even garage rock, they appear to have thrown out the rule book and are doing whatever the hell they want. A brilliant debut effort that is essential for any avant garde / industrial / electronica fan. Includes: "Expect Nothing", "No Escape" and "Eyeless Sight."
1984 album, produced by Flood. Taking the Funk, Electro approach of their recent past to a more accessable level, this is one of their '80's peaks. Sounding as fresh today as it did on first release, the Cabs had really got the hang of taking their experimental industrial sound and stripping it of all the unnecessary baggage to make a minimalist, highly focused album. Includes two songs that would represent the Cabs only real brush with the charts (well, as near as they were ever going to get during the reign of Duran Duran) with the 12" mix of "Sensoria" and "Do Right."
1983 soundtrack album to the motion film of the same name. Track listing: "Taxi Music", "Hallucination Sequence", "D.T.'s Cold Turkey", "The Quarry (In The Wilderness)", "Title Sequence" and "Taxi Music Dub."

Live set from The Lyceum, London on February 8th, 1981. Wisely not trying to recreate their records on stage, they turn their lo fi experiments and turn them into all embracing energy filled dance songs. Track listing: "Taxi Music", "Seconds Too Late", "Your Agent Man", "Split Second Feeling", "Sluggin' For Jesus (Part 1)", "Kneel To The Boss", "Obsession", "A Thousand Ways"

A great intro to the Cabs best tracks, these fourteen selections (including their early Rough Trade singles as a three piece line up) are chronologically placed to show off their alien sounds and lo fi sonic attacks. Incorporating the Velvet Underground, Krautrock, early dance and Dub, it is a near perfect best of for the uninitiated. Includes: "Jazz The Glass", "Control Addict", "Talk Over" and "Eddie's Out"
