Caetano Veloso - Araca Azul. CD. (Polygram - 824 691-2)

Third album. Very strange tripped out stuff. On the cover a long haired Mr. Veloso stands in his underpants in front of a mirror. The album starts with traditional afro-Brazilian music that merges into a mind frying collage of weird vocal noises coming at your ears from every angle. Later on intense acid rock burns for five minutes before more traditional music paves the way for an orchestra! An amazing journey through the drugged under belly of early '70s Brazil....

Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (1967). CD. (Polygram - 838 557-2)

Beautiful late '60s album by this founder of the Tropicalia movement. Late '60s electric Donovan-like music with really freaked out fuzz wah wah guitar solos, orchestration and Brazilian percussive pop. Some songs in English... Great psychedelic artwork.

Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (1969). CD. (Polygram - 838 556-2)

More Brazilian tripped out psych from 1969. Orchestras, fuzzed up wah wah guitar and Santana like percussion all combine on this decidedly odd but most enjoyable CD.

Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (Tropicalia). CD. (Lilith Records - LR131)

Originally released in 1968, Caetano Veloso’s debut album did for Brazilian music what the Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers did for rock & roll, giving birth to the soon-to-be Tropicalia movement, which fused Brazilian music with pop, psychedelia and social awareness (and Veloso’s leftist politics actually earned him a stint in jail in 1968 for ‘anti-government activity’). Veloso, nonetheless went on to become one of the most popular and influential Brazilian musicians of all time. Includes the genre-defining classics "Clarice" and "Soy Loco Por Tì, América", "Superbacana","Tropicalia" and "Alegria, Alegria".
