Cannonball Adderley - Cannonball In Europe. CD. (Blue Note - 5604372)

Live recording form 1962. The alto saxophonist brings together a cracking band for this performance, including brother Nat Adderley on cornet, Yusef Lateef on tenor sax and flute, Joe Zawinul on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and his ever present drummer during this period, Louis Hayes; the band interplay is superb throughout. All of the seven tracks are extended improvisations based on Adderley favourites, also included are the odd humourous remarks from the man himself. Includes: "Trouble In Mind", "Gemini" and " Dizzy's Business."

Cannonball Adderley - Fiddle On The Roof. CD. (Blue Note - 5423092)

1964 album from an early Sextet lineup. A set of songs that seems to have been largely disregarded by the alto saxophonist, none of the songs featured in his live sets of the time despite being a very high quality band effort. Ten tracks, Including: "Sewing Machine", "Little Boy With The Sad Eyes" and "Sabbath Prayer."

Cannonball Adderley - Mercy, Mercy, Mercy: Live At "the Club". CD. (Blue Note - CDP8299152)

Despite that title, this album was actually a live performance within Capitol studios with a small, select and inebriated audience. Despite these unusual settings, this six track performance is great, the quartet showing off just what they could do, mixing Boogaloo, Bop, Gospel influences from guest pianist Joe Zawinul's tracks and a unique combination of all of these things. A highly entertaining, grooving album, including: " Hippodelphia" and "Games."

Cannonball Adderley - Something Else. CD. (Blue Note - 4953292)

An almost frightening album when you look at the cast combined on this six track album from '65. Not only featuring the superb alto sax player, you will also find Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey. A supergroup to be reckoned with, each player trading licks and solos. This CD version features an great unreleased track from the sessions: "Alison's Uncle." This belongs in any Jazz collection, a real jewel in the crown. Includes: "Autumn Leaves", "Dancing In The Dark" and "one For Daddy-o."

Cannonball Adderley - Why Am I Treated So Bad!. CD. (Blue Note - 3563142)

1967 album recorded in the same style as its predecessor, Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Recorded live in Capitol studios in front of a (drunken) audience of friends, this ten track set features the same line up performing covers and originals. Although not as awe inspiring as Mercy!, this is largely because that was one of the best albums of his career and would be near impossible to top. Includes: "Heads Up! Feet Down!", "I'm On My Way" and "Mini Mama."
