Cannonball - Cannonball Plays Zawinul. CD. (Blue Note - 5970702) CD covering the partnership of Adderley and pianist Joe Zawinul between 1961 and '71. These ten tracks, a mixture aof live and studio recordings feature the two of them, and Cannonballs quintet performing co-written numbers. The longer cuts, such as the fiftenn minute "74 Miles Away" show a group pushing for new boundaries without completely loosing themselves and lienating their audience (or the reviewers.) The chronological track listing shows a fascinating leap in ideas between the first and last tracks, genuinely thrilling and challenging Post Bop Jazz. Includes: "Hippodelphia", "Ndo Lima" and the closing nine minute "Dr. Honouris Cousa."
