Limited vinyl release (gatefold sleeve) of the 2002 album from Finnish space rockers Circle. A great blend of heavy psychedelic riffing a la Monster Magnet with progressive and Kraut stylings. They've been together for more than ten years now but are still as psychedelic as ever! They played with Acid Mothers Temple in Finland in November 2002. Eight tracks clocking in at sixty three minutes. This album is a DOUBLE VINYL release that has an extra unreleased track called ' Mustavuori' taking all of side 4 of the album. A full blown breath taking 18.30 minute long extensive psychedelic journey.
Great 2001 album from the Finnish sonic assassins Circle. Hypnotic space rock meets early 70s krautrock with wild guitars and sleazy keyboard sounds to create a truly psychedelic listening experience. Worth checking out.
Beautiful double vinyl version (gatefold sleeve)of the 2001 album from the Finnish sonic assassins Circle. Hypnotic space rock meets early 70s krautrock with wild guitars and sleazy keyboard sounds to create a truly psychedelic listening experience. Worth checking out as the CD version is now deleted. LAST 2 VINYL COPIES.
Live show recorded in 2001 by this great band from Finland who have been issuing albums since the '90's. Mixing wordless vocals with progressive rock, psychedelia and Krautrock this is highly individual, insistent and manically hypnotic sound. This CD-only reissue also includes the 12 minutebonus track "Raubonmix".Comes complete with an obi strip.

1997 album from the Finnish band who mix original psychedelic and progressive ideas with a Kraut Rock beat which is insistent and compelling. Wonderful mind melting stuff!!
After a dozen or so albums, this 2000 release finds the Finnish alternative psych/kraut/progsters venturing into a hazy, oft-noisy primitive psych direction, equally serving up repetitive rock pulsations and noodly fusion. Creating a mellow caveman hippy jam of all sorts, followed by an example of twangy acoustic psych and throwing in krautrock beat, maniacal noise drone the result is like Captain Beyond meets Neu! Stoner prog kraut!
Finland continues to pour out some great music. This instrumental psych / progressive band pick up the vibe of early Soft Machine and burst through into the '90s in a Radiohead kind of a way. Excellent elongated slices of instrumental mayhem with assorted percussion, keyboards tape loops etc. Odd but highly satisfying......
More fine psychedelic/progressive experiments from Finland in the vein of early Soft Machine. This album is a little less frenetic and more melodic than the others, but is still a treat for ears that want to sample something a bit different.....
Great limited double LP set from Finland's greatest modern Kraut/Prog/Psych loons. This beautifully warped double is housed in a bizarre gatefold sleeve, displaying a worrying interest in skulls and insects, and is strictly limited to 500 copies. One of the LPs (Golem) was recorded live and the other (Vesiliirto) recorded in the studio.
Finnish masters of hypnotic and trance-like KRAUT/SPACEROCK. Hypnotising repitative riffs running through whilst the familiar Circle layered sound are added to the tracks, like violin, eerie keyboards and strong guitar-riff layering. For anyone into Hawkwind, Can etc. and mesmerizingly repetative. Bashing guitar, occasional downright scary vocals and fantastic late 60's/early 70's organ sounds. Their music is energetic, well crafted and always exciting.
Lmited LP that catches a session Finnish group, Circle, recorded exclusively for WFMU during their US tour, on 19/9/05. Comprising two lengthy pieces taking up a side each, 'The Greatest Kingdom' and 'The Ghost of the Highway', it focuses on their often spacey improv. underpinning and applies new meaning to a vision which strides powerfully over the line dividing apocalyptic dread from a semblance of hope. Agonised wailing, screams and torrents of molten sound dance ghostly shapes over psychedelic keyboard patterns, distant clattering, moonlit guitars and a rhythm section so carefully tempered that it's impossible not to feel the chemistry at work. Coupled to a fantastic sleeve which illustrates a homage to spaghetti western films and includes fitting notes by WFMU's Program Director, Brian Turner, Arkades proves what these New Wave Of Finnish Heavy Metallers are capable of when they leave most of the rock at the door. File somewhere near Acid Mothers Temple after having been given the kinda makeover only the Scandinavians have the formula for. Indeed, this is sweet shit.
The masters of the hypnotic riff return with a vinyl only release called 'Empire' containing two long tracks called 'Dragon' & 'Empire'. The album was recorded live earlier this year in Porvoo, Finland but you'd never know it was a live record as there is so much stuff going on its mind-boggling not to mention the production is superb. 'Dragon' sounds like Can jamming with Sunburned Hand Of The Man whilst 'Empire' sounds like the 'take-a-riff and beat it into submission' Circle we already know and love. This release is VINYL ONLY and limited to 750 copies for the world. Like all Riot Season vinyl there will be no repress! Tracklisting: A. Dragon (22.10) B. Empire (23:43
This renowned band have already recorded several albums of shimmering, minimalist prog rock that are highly respected by collectors. This 2002 development- an almost unfathomable synthesis of heavy riffage, repeteitive rhythms, drones, delicate hymnal vocals and bizarre, almost dialectic vocals (think Magma's bizarre Kobaian mixed with old dead languages) that will amaze and confuse listeners in equal measures. Not to be confused with the ECM free-jazz Circle led by Dave Holland and Anthony Braxton, but every bit as uncompromising and interesting.Housed in a digi pack

The constant evolution of Kraut/Psyche kingsCircle contiues with this 2006 four track EP (20 minutes playing time). Now including more and more elements of prime quality psychedelic metal into the mix, this is a dense merge of intense rhythm and guitar riffs that cut the skin. Features guest singer Bruce Duff (from LA band Jesters Of Destiny) on three of the tracks.
The Finnish sonic assassins take a new direction for their 2006 album. Gone are the rocking riffs and the Kraut rock ideas of old, this is filled with slow moving abstract atmospherics, space rock and inspiring wandering. This determined change in direction will really surprise long term fans. Produced by Mika Ratto.
2005 and these experimental veterans study the both ends of the previously unheard static / hyper-active scale. Soundwise they have clearly proceeded to the 21st century, jumping from limpid synthesizer soundscapes to wall-smashing "speed-kraut" bursts. The triptych construction of the album along with the cover art that portrays war and street riots raise various associations on the history and the current state of Western civilization.
The premier kraut-influenced, psychedelic band have created their most dark and twisted record to date - which, for those familiar with Circle, know is no small feat. The constants of their sound remain - hard repetition, heavy riffs, trance inducing rhythms - aided, on this recording, by an ominous, spooky and, dare we say, straight up evil vibe. You could very well be listening to the greatest, long lost dark psychedelia record, or maybe the soundtrack to some never released drug-drenched horror film.
