Cryan' Shames - Sugar & Spice. LP. (Columbia - CL 2589) Great debut album from 1966 by this Chicago band that has a strong Byrds influence. The album includes the inevitable cover versions such as "Hey Joe" and "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" but "Ben Frankin's Almanac" is a storming fuzzed up punk original that is pretty much an essential listen. Overall a really good US garage pop album with psych flashes…

(Sundazed - SC 6187) The second album from 1967 by this Byrds like garage punk band from Chicago is much more melodic and harmony based, moving towards the lavish sound of the bands next album and away from the garage ethic. Includes seven bonus tracks and a detailed booklet.
