Damned - Final Damnation. CD. (Castle - CMRCD247)

The classic line up of Scabies, Sensible, Vanian & James reunited for this live album which is loud, frantic and how a Damned show should be. The repertoire is all from their late 70's catalogue and is stunning. A bit like having the Damned in your front room ? Mmmmmm not such a good idea ...or there again!

Damned - Smash It Up: The Anthology 1976-87. Dble CD. (Castle - CMEDD476)

They were the ultimate punk band, a maelstrom of musical mania and madcap manners. And this is the ultimate record of their first decade, assembling the pick of their Stiff, Chiswick, Big Beat, Bronze and MCA catalogues in one place for the first time. From ‘New Rose’ to ‘Eloise’, here is the sound of history being made- complete with packaging which translates that saga into definitive words and pictures.

Damned - Strawberries (deluxe). CD. (Castle - CMQCD1083)

1982 and the Damned returned with this joyous album and is one of their most underated releases by far.Now up graded to a deluxe version and contains bonus material a-plenty. The album opens with a storming track 'Ignite" with heavy guitar and speaker switching madness and then piles into the horn driven "Generals"."Stranger on the Town" has a great 60's vibe and "Dozen Girls" is pure Damned of old.The album by close seems to get mellower & mellower with tracks like "Under The Floor Again","Don't Bother Me" & 'Life Goes On'. Essential stuff for the punk collector.Bonus Tracks:Lovely Money, I Think I'm Wonderful, Lovely Money (Disco Mix), Take That, Mine's A Large One, Landlord, Torture Me, Disguise, Citadel Zombies. Detailed booklet gives all the lowdownn on this fine album.Alas as per the original it does not smell of strawberries.

Damned - Strawberries. CD. (Castle - CMRCD246)

Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies and Captain Sensible were joined by Paul Gray and the whimsically-named Roman Jugg for this joyous 1982 album, which mixed political satire, punk energy and The Damned’s traditionally surreal humour. The album includes the singles ‘Generals’ and 'Dozen Girls', two of the most underrated releases by this line-up of the band, plus the first appearnce of live staple 'Under The Floor Again'.

Damned - Pleasure & The Pain (Selected Highlights 82-91). Dble CD. (Essential - ESACD901)

One of the original class of '76 London Punk bands, The Damned always managed to inject an element of humour into their work, amongst the power chords and rabble-rousing vocals. This collection ropes together the best of the band's recordings for the Bronze label. Includes the single "Lovely Money" which features a cameo appearance from Vivian Stanshell, ex-Bonzo Dog Band, the best tracks from "Strawberries" LP and seven cuts recorded live in London 1988.

Damned - Neat Neat Neat: The Alternative Anthology. 3-CD Set. (Sanctuary Midline - SMETD128)

They were the first British punk band on record, and for many purists the Damned are still the ultimate representatives of the spirit of 77. Here are three albums to back up that case- one apiece for their classic Stiff and Bronze studio recordings, and the third capturing Rat, the Captain and the rest of the boys in their natural element, in front of an audience of Damned devotees.

Damned - Music For Pleasure. CD. (Castle - CMFCD506)

The second outing from the Damned and the choice of Syd Barrett as producer was a no go so they used Nick Mason instead! It's a classic album and contains gems such as 'Don't Cry Wolf', 'Problem Child' , 'You Know' and more. Manic sax over punk rock tunes make this a criminally ignored album.

Damned - Music For Pleasure. LP. (Earmark - EARMARK40010)

The band who refused to conform gave us this slab of brilliance in 1977 produced by Nick Mason,(their first choice was Syd Barrett but you know how it is!) It's a darker, more ominous affair than the first and a sound that not many people were ready for at the time, but have now come to love. Manic sax playing (Lol Coxhill) graces some tunes while others like "One Way Love" , Problem Child, "You Know" have now become classics.180 gram gatefold vinyl pressing in a PVC dust sleeve.

Damned - Marvellous - The Best Of.... CD. (Chiswick - CDWIKK 198)

The rarer than rare radio edit of "I Just Can't Be Happy Today" is included for the completists on this mid price overview. Tracks:- Love Song - Smash It Up Parts 1 & 2 - I Just Can't Be Happy Today - Ballroom Blitz - White Rabbit - Wait For The Blackout - The History Of The World (Part 1) - Disco Man - Therapy - Looking At You.

Damned - Live Anthology. Dble CD. (Castle - CMDDD357)

Double disc set recorded for Bronze in the early-mid 80s, drawing laregely on material from 'Strawberries' and 'The Black Album'. A live performance full of typically dark Vanian/Sensible humour and the gothic (as opposed to Goth) psychedelia which they made their own and helped to create Punk with.

Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette. LP. (Chiswick - DAM 2)

The Damned step up a gear and move into all out guitar attack with Captain Sensible moving to six strings and Algy Ward (ex Saints) stepping in to bring a wide variety of touches and influences to create a record that most of their contemporaries could never have approached. From the opening "Love Song" to "Smash it Up" the band are in fine form, even their take on the MC5's "Looking at You" is worthy of admission alone. This is a perfect trash-the-rules-and-party pop/punk/R&B scorcher of a record.

Damned - I'm Alright Jack & The Beanstalk. CD. (Castle - CMRCD543)

A forgotten album from the eternal punksters with only Scabies and Vanian in attendance, plus the addition of Glen Matlock and Brian James on a couple of tracks. But the formats the same, short blasts of adrenaline power punk. First released in 1996 with a different title 'Not Of This Earth' on a small indie label Marble Orchard, it has been a sought after item for some time. Four bonus tracks from a BBC Session in 1993.

First time on CD for this classic live album from the classic Damned line up. Recorded on 27/11/77 (not the Captain's Birthday!) and contains tracks from their first two albums. I feel alright!
