Artist Listing : Earl Bostic And His Alto Sax (1 products)

Earl Bostic And His Alto Sax - Let's Ball Tonight!!. CD. (Rev Ola - CRREV163)

Yes, the veteran big band alto saxophonist from Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose career was given a newlease of life in the early 1950s with his arousing, bump-and-grind, jazz-for-strippers rehashes of oldswing era hits like "Flamingo", "Temptation" and "Sleep". This compilation ignores those oft-releasedhits in favour of Bostic's prime R&B years as one of the hottest saxophone men in the business, worshipped by everyone from Charlie Parker on down. His bands attracted the likes of jazz-gods-in waiting Stanley Turrentine, Benny Golson and John Coltrane (on his first paying gig), but these hot tracks feature solid R&B players like John Hardee, Count Hastings and Rene Hall. In among the breath-takingly fast jump instrumentals are great vocal performances from RogerJones, Clyde Terrell and Bostic and the band ensemble. An evocation of a thousand sweaty Saturday nights in Harlem and LA's Central Ave of a Kansas City where Big Joe Turner bossed it....where the coming stars of Jazz cut their teeth on a music EVERYONE loves as soon as they hear it.. Earl Bostic- just try and keep your feet from dancin'! First time on CD collection of this classic artist. A must for all closet jazzers and Rockers- 28 insane sax-sational tracks!
