Eric Burdon & The Animals - Winds Of Change/The Twain Shall Meet. Dble CD. (B.G.O. Records - BGOCD562)

Forget what you might have thought about the original Animals, these are Eric Burdon's acid albums. Recorded in the late 60's and featuring, amongst others, the talents of Zoot Money and Andy Summers, this includes "Monterey" "Orange and Red Beams" and "Sky Pilot". Orchestrated psych sits nexts to all out acid rock weirdness. Trippy, haunting and, at times, a very personal experience. Next up there's LSD in the tea on the Winds Of Change album, featuring the singles "San Franciscan Nights" and "Good Times". A 1967 album and the first one recorded by Burdon on America's West Coast with the over-riding themes of love, peace and LSD consumption shining through. Also includes an interesting cover of the Stones' "Paint It Black" (performed live in the Monterey Pop film).

Eric Burdon & The Animals - Every One Of Us. CD. (Repertoire Records - REPUK1055)

Recorded in Los Angeles in 1968 this superbly inventive set from the fine Eric Burdon and his newly (at the time) formed Animals is full of unusual and experimental lyrical ideas, notably "The Immigrant Lad", a saga heavy on biographical suggestion and the mega 18 minute "New York 1963-USA 1968. Features John Weider and Vic Briggs on guitar and an exceptional guest turn from Zoot Money on the organ. Bluesy, mellow instrumentals mix with fiery rockers on this underrated work, presented to you re-mastered with two bonus cuts (including a single version of "River Deep, Mountain High") and housed in a digipack.
