Ethel Ennis - This Is Ethel Ennis. CD. (Poker - DECKCD 108) Baltimore native Ethel Ennis is an American national treasure. Famous for being the first singer to sing the National Anthem a capella (at Richard Nixon's 1973 presidential inauguration), she was loved by Sinatra and her home city where she became cultural ambassador in the late '70's. Collected here is her 1958 RCA debut album, available on CD for the first time alongside ten non album 45's from the mid 60's. A brilliant jazz singer capable of some really warm vocal performances, this would be a fine addition to anyone's collection. Booklet includes liner notes, memorabilia and label repro's.
