Fleetwood Mac - Men Of The World/ The Early Years. 3-CD. (Sanctuary Records - SMETD239) Compilation examining the Mac's work between 1968 and 1970: Disc 1 concentrates on their early, oft-derivative (but none the worse for it) blues and rock'n'roll roots: Disc 2 looks at some of their more experimental studio work, in particular the "Then Play On" album sessions: Disc 3 presents Mac live. Several of these live sides are taken from the celebrated "Live In Boston" gigs, which perhaps caught Fleetwood Mac- to some, this lineup is still the 'real' one- and Peter Green, in particular, at their very optimum. (Snapper - SDPCD130) Excellent remastering once agin on Volume 3 of this outstanding series when the Mac were in fine hard acid blues mode.Here they tear their way through Mac classic and rock'n'roll standards with such power and acid grace. Recorded live in early 1970 at the Boston Tea Party shows in the U.S.

Fleetwood Mac - Madison Blues. Dble CD + DVD. (Recall Box/Snapper - SBOX011) Three discs from one of the Mac's more neglected periods- when, immediately after the departure of Peter Green, John McVie's keyboard-playing wife Christine (then a major star as Christine Perfect after a No.1 hit with Chicken Shack) joined, her organ sound altering the whole dynamic of the group and helping to push them in a West Coast direction. Guitarists Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan were by now group leaders, and their fine songwriting, far less bluesy than Green's, dominated this era- as demonstrated on 'Tell Me All The Things You Do' 'Jewel Eyed Judy' and 'Station Man'. Disc 2 features more of a live set, including the customary slew of blues and rock and roll standards, whilst Disc 3 is that most precious of things- a DVD interview with Jeremy Spencer (a convert to the US cult the Children Of God, aka the Family, since soon after the Kiln House album), who until the early '00s was missing presumed dead, having vanished in the 1970s in South America a la Lt Col HP Fawcett. Here he talks frankly about his life with and without the Mac, and reveals things we never expected to know the answer to. This set is therefore a required purchase for Fleetwood Anormacs everywhere.

Recorded live in early 1970 the band storm their way through Mac classics with Peter Green in blistering form throughout. Heavier than heavy versions of 'Oh Well' & 'World In Harmony' a lengthy (25 minute) 'Rattlesnake Shake' and to make this re-issue even better an unreleased 'Jam' that has guest musicians Joe Walsh & Eric Clapton. Beautiful fold out digi pack with fully informative 12 page booklet. HDCD Remaster.
