Artist Listing : Galliard (3 products)

Galliard - Strange Pleasure/New Dawn. CD. (Ler - LER 43001)

Both albums from 1969 and 1970 by this UK progressive rock band with a funky/jazzy edge. The first album has some decidedly medieval atmospherics whilst the second one is harsher and more diverse with some great Canterbury styled instrumental work featuring with long flowing jamming sections. Fans of Vertigo styled progressive rock should check these out pronto....Originally on Deram.

Galliard - Strange Pleasure. LP.

180 gram thick card vinyl pressing by Galliard who were formed in Birmingham, in the summer of 1968. They were in essence a much-augmented later manifestation of Craig. Galliard set out as an extremely eclectic band on Strange Pleasure. They juxtapose a woodwind/horn section slyly with rural compositions, creating a pastoral, even medieval atmosphere, starkly contrasting to nervously urban passages, although they borrow from Art Nova's Wrapped Her In Ribbons and give the credits to Geoff Brown. An interesting effort.
