Grand Funk - Survival (Remastered). CD. (Capital - 72435-41725-2-6)

Dropping the Railroad from their name meant no let up in the sonic assault that was the band's 1971 album. Blistering guitar and bass crunching riffs were still much in evidence - the only surprise being that a band who were reknowned for being so loud actually had some decent tunes as well. Reissue here has 5 bonus tracks, expanded booklet and new liner notes.

Grand Funk - Shinin' On. CD. (Capitol Records - 8053128)

Remastered version of this classic 1974 album from the bosses of Detroit Boogie, "Shinin' On" was the follow up to "We're An American Band" and continues in much the same slicker funkier vein (keeping Todd Rundgren as producer helped). Great vocal harmonies, wild lead guitar breaks from Mark Farner and pounding rock rhythm keep the album flowing from beginning to end. Tracks include "The Loco-Motion", "Mr Pretty Boy" and the classic title track.Contains 2 bonus tracks, expanded booklet and new liner notes.

Grand Funk - All The Girls In The World Beware. CD. (Capitol Records - 80532)

1974 US release that saw the band's rough rock edges honed to a more slick sound. But they still are essentially pumping out stoner, acid rock riffs. Grand Funk - Live Album (Remastered). CD. (EMI - 724357623926)

As over the top as only these guys could be, this 1970 release captures perfectly the raw raucous energy and general bombastic insanity that made GFR one of the hugest bands of the early seventies on the US side of the pond. Lengthy versions of favourites "Paranoid", "Inside Looking Out" and "Into The Sun" are included here as well as various stage announcements. Now remastered with detailed sleeve notes.
