Grateful Dead - Dick's Picks Vol. 5. 3-CD. A triple live CD from Oakland California, recorded on Boxing Day 1979. This complete show contains great versions of over 20 songs from the Dead's extensive repertoire, including plenty of inspired jamming, the highlight of which is a 83 minute eight song segue. Grateful Dead - Dick's Picks Vol. 3. Dble CD. Double live CD from Pembroke Pines, Florida recorded in 1977, this is "Terrapin Station" era Dead, featuring many of the songs from that album as well as older favourites such as "Eyes Of The World" and "Wharf Rat". Donna Godchaux's in fine voice here.

This DVD explores the effects of the "at the right place at the right time" syndrome, coming from San Fransisco at the outbreak of acid rock, heavy drugs and psychedelia, drastically morphing the sound and career prospects of The Warlocks into the Grateful Dead that would sell millions and influence the next generation. Obviously drugs play a major role in this story, which charts their habits all the way to the eventual death of Jerry Garcia in '95. A fascinating DVD which is perfect for all serious fans and anyone interested In the mythology of rock music.
