Hoodoo Gurus - Mars Needs Guitars!. CD.
(Label: Acadia, Cat.No: ACAM8103)

Click for large image The 1985 effort from this Aussie outfit once again channelled their insipration from the vast entirety of American pop / rock culture. With the usual suspects like garage rock, power pop, and surf to create a distinctly catchy sound(similar to the Replacements). Includes the brillliant "Bittersweet", the radio friendly "Death Defying", and the touching "Show Some Emotion".This re-issue includes 5 bonus tracks.

Proton Energy Pills - Rocket To Tarrawanna. CD.
(Label: Bang, Cat.No: BANG CD8)

Click for large image This CD contains outakes and live recordings by this seminal high-energy-grunge Australian Band, as well as recordings that were originally released on vinyl on the Australian label Waterfront, and have never before been released on CD. Able to leave audiences with a look f sheer terror on their faces, this is some of the dirtiest rock around. The Proton Energy Pills were an allegiance of brothers Jay, Lenny and Dave Curley and schoolyard friends Richard (Richie) Lewis and Stewart Cunningham. All of the bands official recordings compiled together on one anthology.

Saints - Imperious Delirium. CD.
(Label: Wildflower, Cat.No: 1314)

Click for large image Though vocalistChris Bailey is the only original member of the pioneering Australian punk rock combo performing here, the Saints' original 1970s-style full-throttle guitar attack is in full effect throughout this raw-sounding set of garage punk from 2006. Tracks such as the primal-sounding "Enough Is Never Enough" and the warped pop of "Trocadero" conjure the band's glory days without betraying any hint of nostalgia.

Little River Band - Re-Arranged. CD.
(Label: The Store For Music Ltd, Cat.No: SFMCD079)

Click for large image Fifteen track album from one of the best vocal harmony groups of the '70's. Still performing today, it is well known amongst their fans that on stage they love to tinker with the arrangements of their best loved hits from the past three decades, this release finds the newly expanded line up rerecording old tracks often in completely different guises. A fantastic live feel was created by recording the tracks in a singlefifteen hour session. Includes new versions of: "The Other Guy", "Lonesome Loser" and "Man On Your Mind."

Chain (Australia) - Towards The Blues +. CD.
(Label: Picar, Cat.No: PIC8120042)

Click for large image Reissue on CD of 2nd album from Australian premier 70's blues rock band. Originally released in 1971. Lots of hard boogie-bluesrock. This CD version has 8 bonus tracks.

Seekers - Ultimate Collection. Dble CD.
(Label: Emi Gold, Cat.No: SEEKERS)

Click for large image One of the most popular and successful acts of the '60's the British Invasion (despite originally being from Australia), their brand of acoustic folk pop led to numerous top ten hits on both sides of the Atlantic. This fifty track two CD set features a large proportion of The Seekers' repertoire and all of their biggest hits.

Lobby Loyde - Beyond Morgi The Labyrinths Of Klimster. CD.
(Label: Aztec, Cat.No: AVSCD 22)

Click for large image The album itself is an incredibly eclectic and diverse assortment of music: vast swathes of glacial keyboard notes with Loydes unique, soaring psych-rock guitar work to the fore. It is classic space rock, Classic Lobby album recorded at Armstrong studios one weekend in june 1976.Beginning with a brooding electronic pulse (think early Tangerine Dream circa "Electronic meditation" and "Alpha Centauri"), before building to a climactic guitar crescendo that echoes Pink Floyd at their most spacious and futuristic (think "Ummagumma" and "Meddle" - with just a hint of Hawkwinds wind-tunnelling space explorations from "Space ritual"). On top of that are Loydes classical music influences, in particular his great love of Wagner and Beethoven, which come out in much of the music. Finally seeing the light of day - 31 years after it was recorded

Split Enz - Live In America. CD.
(Label: The Store For Music Ltd, Cat.No: SFMCD044)

Click for large image Eioghteen track live album highlighting the popular Australians various trips to America. Includes: "You Can Lead A Horse To Water", "Missing Person", "Twist And Shout" and "Hard Act To Follow."

Master's Apprentices - Masterpiece. LP.
(Label: Tapestry Records, Cat.No: T215)

Click for large image 180 gram thick card sleeve version of the 1970 second LP Masterpiece. It's an interesting album, that clearly shows the band developing a much broader range. It includes the single tracks "Linda Linda", "5:10 Man", "A Dog, A Siren & Memories", and "How I Love You". Side one of the LP shows them beginning to come to grips with the current fad for concept albums, by linking the songs with a short guitar-and-string arrangement, crossfaded between tracks. The title track, a live recording, provides a vivid aural snapshot of a Masters live show ca. 1968, complete with the deafening screams of fans.Very limited vinyl pressing.

Rolf Harris - Best. CD.
(Label: EMI GOLD, Cat.No: 5843232)

Click for large image Utterly essential collection from an underated songwriter and performer. Twenty three tracks that span his commercially successful period in the '60's. Never failing to entertain or amuse, his slightly left field lyrics and seemingly never ending energy buoy up this album. Includes the classics: "Jake The Peg", "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport", "Waltzing Matilda" and his own uniue version of "Stairwa yTo Heaven."

(Label: Chapter, Cat.No: CH56CD)

Click for large image Despite being a new album, you can’t escape that intricate, atmospheric pre '70's pop vibe when listening to Animal Bells (the title comes from the animal shaped toy bells linking each of the twelve album tracks). Formed in 2002, this is their debut bursting full of multi layering, majestic harmonies, 12 string guitars and minor keys. One of Australias most interesting bands, the quartet could have a promising future.
