Hollies - Evolution (Remastered With Mono And Stereo Versions). CD. (EMI - 5282472)

First issued in 1967, this was the UK band's first stab at psychedelia. Graham Nash's songwriting and singing skills are much to the fore here, in what was an interesting and credible addition to the ranks of UK psych, with a typically UK feel (Ye Olde Trippy Toffee Shoppe Inside Timothy Leary's Fairy Tale Dream etc.). This reissue contains the mono & stereo versions of the album.

Hollies - Dear Eloise/King Midas In Reverse. CD. (Sundazed - SC 6123)

Yes, The Hollies made a psychedelic album, just before Graham Nash left to join Crosby Stills and Nash. Released in the UK as "Butterfly", its an orchestrated acid psych-pop masterpiece with backwards guitar and surreal lyrics incorportaing late '60s psychedelic imagery. "Try it" is pretty outrageous and probably helped Mr Nash out of the band.... A classic album with bonus tracks on Sundazed.. VALUE FOR MONEY BARGAIN PRICE

Hollies - Confessions Of The Mind. CD. (EMI - 5282432)

Digital remaster of the 1970 album (first album after Nash' departure) which featured "Little Girl" which sounds almost like a conscious attempt to emulate the harmonies and overall sound of Crosby, Stills & Nash and the beautiful country rock number "Lady Please", and the interesting title track makes this a worthy addition to the early Hollies catalogue.

Hollies - Sing Dylan. CD. (EMI - 5282462)

This 1969 release is the most controversial of the bands many albums. It does seem odd that this far into their carer they decide to record a covers album, Graham Nash walked away because of it and it was universally panned. Despite some clangers (an orchestrated version of "Blowin In The Wind" is horrific), there are many moments of light to be found on the twelve tracks they recorded. Touching on recent releases by Zimmerman and early obcurities, they highlight their arranging abilities on the stripped back numbers and their exceptional harmonies. If you are not a fan of big orchestrations then it's probably best not to get this album, the album has moments of over the top string arrangements that are just begging to be wiped from the master tapes.

Twenty four track collection chronologically placing the Hollies early singles, B-sides and EP releases side by side. Sounding absolutely superb due to the digital remastering directly from the master tapes, this is the sound of the mid '60's Hollies in full swing. A great compilation for collectors as a number of the B-sides are not elsewhere available and, just for once, they are all great tunes! Hollies - Buddy Holly. CD. (EMI - 394 7182)

The album Buddy Holly was originally released in October 1980 and is essentially an album of Buddy holly song covers. The album now features two further Buddy Holly songs by the Hollies as bonus tracks: Take Your Time and Peggy Sue Got Married, which is actually a duet with Buddy Holly (through the wonders of technology of course). On this album Allan Clarke was back on vocal duty alongside longstanding members Bobby Elliott, Bernie Calvert, Terry Sylvester and Tony Hicks.

Hollies - Romany (expanded). CD. (EMI - 3947122)

Originally released in 1972, Romany was The Hollies fifteenth studio album. It was recorded with Michael Rickfors on lead vocals; he had previously been lead vocalist for Swedish band Bamboo who had supported the Hollies during a tour of Sweden. His vocal style had more of a heavy rock sound than Allan Clarke who he briefly replaced whilst Allan promoted his solo albums. Romany also features Terry Sylvester, who was to be with The Hollies until 1981 after replacing Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash) on guitar and vocals as well as Bernie Calvert, and life members; Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott. The album has now been re-mastered and expanded to include eight bonus tracks, including hit single The Baby which reached the top 30 in February 1972 as well as the single Magic Woman Touch and it’s b-side Indian Girl. Among the bonus tracks are two previously unreleased songs: Papa Rain and Witchy Woman to really get the fans excited, as well as the rare If It Wasn’t For The Reason which featured on a rarities album back in 1988.
