Howard Devoto - Jerky Versions Of The Dream. CD. (Virgin America - CDVR 2272)

Howard Devoto was on the cutting edge of British post-punk rock during the late '70s and '80s. A founding member of new wave/pop band Buzzcocks, Devoto went on to form similar-minded bands Magazine and Luxuria. "Jerky Versions Of The Dream", his debut solo album, was released in July 1983. Recorded with ex-Magazine members Dave Formula and Barry Adamson, it was a pop album - of sorts. On the surface the melodies were upbeat and the music funky, but Devoto was searching, inward looking, sloughing off the past. Now digitally remastered, it includes tracks from the original 7" of 'Rainy Season', an extended version of 'Cold Imagination' and three Peel Session tracks.
