Ian Dury & The Blockheads - Ten More Turnips From The Tip/ Brand New Boots And Panties. Dble CD. (East Central One - EC1CD006)

The last and very final studio recordings of the genius that was Ian Dury, recorded sporadically between 1991 and 2000 with the Blocks adding their performances in 2001, a year after the death of their mentor. The final track features a vocal from Robbie Williams, but never mind, you can always programme the CD player to miss it. Making up the other half of this bonzer box set is the 2001-released 'Brand New Boots And Panties', released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the classic original, and featuring the Blockheads fronted by a host of special guests such as Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Skinhead O'Connor, Shane McGowan and that Williams bloke again. A fine end and final testament to the career of a true one-off, and a package worthy of anyone's collection.

The bonus disc on this re-issue includes "Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll" and 17 unissued tracks unearthed for this release which included work-in-progress versions of every track on the album and more.Essential !

Ian Dury & The Blockheads - Mr Love Pants. CD. (Demon Westside/Edsel - DIAB 8070)

Reissue of the very final recording by this most enigmatic, charismatic and entertaining of UK rock and pop heroes, the Upminster Kid himself. Originally issued in 1998, less than 18 months before his death from cancer, this was the first full Blockheads album since 'Laughter' some 18 years before, and featured the full classic lineup. A slightly more reflective Ian than previously (unsurprising, given the circumstances) but still the same urbane wit and sharp Cockney tongue we all loved, set to the finest skank-rock band you'll ever hear.

Expanded and remastered double CD reissue of Dury's classic Stiff Records release. The third album he released on Stiff, Laughter was issued originally in December 1980 and was the only Blockheads album to feature the great Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood's original guitarist) who co-wrote the hit single "Superman's Big Sister". The 2CD edition contains three non-album singles sides (including the essential I Want To Be Straight) and a whole disc of previously unreleased tracks including demos for the album and cuts form the album sessions. And for the first time ever the booklet contains all the lyrics, along with annotation by Will Birch and Dury ephemera.
