Impressions - Three The Hard Way OST. LP. (Get Back - GET8007) Soundtrack album for the 1974 Blaxploitation movie starring Jim Brown. The music, by Curtis Mayfield's backing band, is the usual cool funky soul that you'd expect and this reissue comes in 180 gram vinyl with gatefold sleeve.

Impressions - This Is My Country (Mini Card Sleeve). CD. (Sunspots - SPOT 503) Originally issued on Curtis Mayfield's own Curtom label in 1968 this album is considered by many to be the peak of The Impressions career. Mayfield delivers a couple of forceful statements of African-American pride with the title track and 'They Don't Know' and also walks gingerly onto the flower power plank with 'Loves Happening'. Mostly, however, romance remains the hot topic and this is characteristically strong impressions effort is full to the brim with first class Mayfield compositions. A late '60s Soul classic that you just can't miss! Mini card sleeve edition limited to 1500 copies.

Impressions - The Best Of 1968-76. CD. (Snapper / Charly - SNAP251CD) Collection of all of the pioneering Chicago soul outfit's hits for their founder Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label, including 'Choice Of Colours' 'Check Out Your Mind' 'This Is My Country' and 'Finally Got Myself Together'. All four vocalists- Mayfield, Leroy Hutson, Reggie Torian and Ralph Johnson- are featured here. This is of course the later, funkier and more political era of the band, having moved on considerably from their sweet-voiced gospel roots. Digi Pack edition.

Impressions - One By One / Ridin' High. CD. (Kent - CDKEND 152) 1965's "One By One" sandwiches two fine Curtis Mayfield originals with 10 standards which the trio's incredible harmonies and Johnny Pete's arrangements transform, "Ridin' High" was cut around the same time and returns Curtis to the foreground as writer on 10 of the sides, many already covered by Jerry Butler, Major Lance and Gene Chandler. Impressions - Fabulous Impressions/We're A Winner. CD. (Kent - CDKEND 155) Just before they went independent on Custom they cut these final albums for ABC. The second album's title track in particular was a real pointer to Curtis Mayfield's future political and social stance. Two truly fabulous albums - both winners. Impressions - This Is My Country / The Young Mod's Forgotten Story. CD. (Snapper - SNAP281CD) Two albums on one CD. Both were released on Mayfied's new Custom label in '68 and '69 repectively. Many of the impressions late '60's albums had wandered into social commentary, but both albums contain largely Curtis Mayfield penned love songs. It is also their first step away from their harmonised vocals, letting Mayfield take centre stage. Twenty tracks, including: "Wherever You Leadeth Me", "Jealous Man", Gone Away" and "So Unusual."
