Iron Butterfly - Scorching Beauty. CD. (Repertoire Records - REP4558) 1975 comeback album from the legendary US heavy psych band. Without ever completely scaling the heights of previous releases, once again this was a competent set of heavy rockers with some excellent moments. Includes the excellent '1975 Overture' 'Hard Miseree' 'Searchin Circles' and 'Lonely Hearts' alongside some maybe not so classic tunes: less psychedelia, more stadium rock- but hey, it was the mid Seventies after all! Look out for 'Am I Down' as well- the closest an American band had come at the time to sounding like T Rex or Slade, although one doubts whether Braun and Co had ever heard either of them!!

Iron Butterfly - Metamorphosis. CD. (Rhino - R271522) Digitally remastered version of this 1970 album which found the band experimenting more than on previous releases.From the 14-minute epic "Butterfly Bleu" to the electric piano driven "Shady Lady",and the funky "Best Years Of Our Life" from start to finish this is another great album in the I.B. canon.

(Atco - 33250) One of the seminal US '60s heavy psych albums, this 1968 release with the full 17 minute title track was a sensational best seller at the time and still sounds just as good today. Largely built around the keyboards of Doug Ingle, this will just blow you away on first listen, and just gets better each time after that. A true Classic!! Great sleeve as well…

(Rhino - 72196) One of the seminal US '60s heavy psych albums, this 1968 release with the stoned 17 minute title track was a sensational best seller at the time and still sounds just as good today. Largely built around the swirling keyboards of Doug Ingle, this will just blow you away on first listen.
