Jack Bruce - Things We Like. CD. (Polydor - 656042)

Recorded in 1968, this re-mastered set includes 1 bonus track. This is a semi-acoustic, semi-electric jazz set with all the acoustically "clean" instruments interacting with the sometimes fiery tone of John McLaughlin's amazing guitar playing. This is quite a different album to what most Jack Bruce fans wanted in 1968 but has stood the test of time very well.

Jack Bruce - Songs For A Tailor. CD. (Polydor - 656032)

For this debut 1969 album as with 1971's Harmony Row, Peter Brown composed all the lyrics and Jack wrote the music. Producer Felix Pappalardi added some vocals and provides cellos, vocals, guitar, piano, and bass. It was from this album that Felix took to the idea of using "Theme from an Imaginary Western" for Mountain. An excellent booklet containing the lyrics that displays the serious nature of this project. It is picture perfect in construction, performance, and presentation. Remastered version with 4 bonus tracks.

Jack Bruce - Shadows In The Air. CD. (Sanctuary Records - SANCD084)

One of the most influential figures in British Rock history, Jack Bruce has no need to justify his legendary status. But he resists the temptation to rest on his laurels with his latest studio album, which finds him mastering styles as diverse as jazz, funk, and Latin R&B. The cream on the top of a remarkable record is his two-track reunion with old friend Eric Clapton, for sparkling revivals of their 60s standards, 'White Room' and 'Sunshine Of Your Love'.

Jack Bruce - Out Of The Storm. CD. (Polydor - 656062)

The man who has one of the most powerful and identifiable rock & roll voices displays it so well on this album from 1974 with the amazing title track which is a real introspection with more "I" references than any other artist's have ever achieved. On this album Bruce switches styles so much with the amazing rock track "Keep It Down" on which Lou Reed/Alice Cooper guitarist Steve Hunter plays his soul out, whilst the track "One" moves from cabaret to blues to soul. This excellent re-mastered re-issue contains 5 bonus tracks.

Jack Bruce - More Jack Than God. CD. (Sanctuary Records - SANCD211)

Some of the titles on this new studio album will sound familiar to long-time admirers of Jack Bruce - such as ‘I Feel Free’, ‘Politician’ and ‘We’re Going Wrong’. But Bruce has never been an artist to tread water, and More Jack Than God (a wry allusion, perhaps, to his former bandmate Eric Clapton?!) maintains that tradition with a collection of performances that draw on his remarkable 40-year pedigree but add a defiantly contemporary edge. Uniquely respected amongst followers of rock, jazz and blues alike, Bruce can only add to his reputation with this superb album.

Jack Bruce - Harmony Row. CD. (Polydor - 656052)

The self produced disc from 1971 begins with the pop excursion "Can You Follow" which blends into "Escape To The Royal Wood (On Ice)" . Jack Bruce provides the voice, keyboards, bass and some percussion, making this very much a solo project. "You Burned The Tables On Me" takes things into a progressive rock meets jazz arena. Once again this re-mastered re-issue features 5 bonus tracks and an excellent informative booklet.

Jack Bruce - Bird Alone. Dble CD. (Neptune - TUNECD114)

Bassist Bruce may be known primarily as a member of Cream but he has many strings to his bow (ouch!)- Graham Bond, Michael Mantler, BBM, BLT and of course a collection of superb solo albums, on which he proves himself to be one of the country's finest vocalists and lyricists. This live recording features a 'musician's musician' lineup: top fusioneers David Sancious and Billy Cobham on keyboards and drums respectively, and ex Humble Pie/Greenslade luminary Clem Clempson on guitar. Not only a bird alone, but a singular talent.

Jack Bruce - At Rockpalast. 2 x DVD. (WDR - ISBN3-937308-84)

Excellent double disc set featuring no less than three different Jack Bruce concerts: a complex, musicianly set at the Grugahalle, Essen, October 1980, backed by Clem Clempson, David Sancious and Billy Cobham, a more rocking, straightforward heads down show at the Zeche Bochum on the 1st November 1983, and a totally solo vice and piano set at the Musik Hall, Koln, December 1990. This last-named is the most interesting as it strips Bruce's image of its usual muso trappings and presents him naked (thankfully not literally) as a singer songwriter, concentrating on his quite stunning vocals. Region 2 PAL 4:3 disc.
