(Eclipse Records - ECLIPSE 39) One of the fathers of the new 2000 folk movement Jack Rose has been pushing the boundaries of his Fahey inspired finger-picking style through albums with his group Pelt and some simply jaw dropping solo pieces. This is the vinyl edition of his now out of print VHF release and again it's a stunning mesh of Appalachian guitar work extended into intricately woven drones and ragas. The ethereal sounds of his steel strings can lift the listener one moment then buzz with fierce aggression the next. Hypnotic and beautiful, this album showcases Rose at his very best, and that's very very very good!
