John Fahey - Live In Tasmania. CD.
(Takoma - CDTAK 6513)
The only legally issued live recording by John Fahey came about through an unusual set of circumstances in 1980.Allegedly Fahey was touring Australia and decided on the spur of an inebriated moment that he wanted to play in Tasmania. A hall was booked, an audience rounded up, and the show recorded. There was no sound check and a large part of the concert was performed and improvised on the spot. It is quite possible that the audience had probably never heard of him five days before, and it is fortunate indeed that this concert was not merely recorded, but captured brilliantly so that not a note was lost. This CD reissue contains a new note by Jim O’Rourke. |

John Fahey - Railroad 1. CD.
(Takoma - CDTAK 7102)
1983 release by the ultra fine guitarist. Unavailable on CD since the early 90s, it has never had it's correct sleeve until now. Considered by many a critic as one of his most important albums ever, the inclusion of the 1 after the title was a decision taken by the record company and suggested at the time that this was to be a series of releases. This was all news to Fahey himself as it was only ever intended as a one off release. | ![]() |

John Fahey - Fare Forward Voyagers. CD.
(Takoma - CDTAK 7035)
A CD release for John Fahey’s 1973 Takoma release, his only non-Christian religious recording. One of his most demanding records as a performer, the three extended songs here are a tribute to the founder of Integral Yoga, Swami Satchidananda. With only one edit point in the entire record, this is Fahey's greatest achievement as a cohesive improvisational guitarist. So difficult are the passages dound here that the great player gave up playing them live as they were just too demanding. Featuring the original sleeve for the first time on CD, the packaging also includes facsimiles of the Yogaville West leaflet that accompanied the first pressings. |

John Fahey - Yes! Jesus Loves Me - Guitar Hymns. CD.
(Takoma - CDTAK 7085)
This album consists of an eclectic selection of original 17th / 18th / 19th century hymns, that John indelibly stamped with his unique interpretations. It has never been available before apart from a brief issue in 1980, when it was somewhat bizarrely paired with a Maria Muldaur album. |
