After launching Upsetter Records in 1968, he set about making his mark as one of the island's most innovative and creative producers, his often eccentric approach resulting in some of the most exciting and enduring recordings to have come from Jamaica. Many of these, including a number of major UK chart hits are collected on this double CD set.

(Trojan - CDTBL166) 1972 album from one of the masters of dub and reggae Lee Perry finds his ska/reggae being tinged with US style R&B as was common at the time. It is still unmistakeably Scratch though and includes his version of "My Girl", "Cool And Easy" and "Move Me" amongst others.

A mixture of originals and covers in his own inimitable, brain-fried style. Once again, Mr Ashcroft, you were wrong- the drugs DO work!! Anyone who walks on stage halfway through his own gig at a festival in a tracksuit (the only person who can pull this off-sorry Jon Anderson) and gets a standing ovation just for shouting 'Clip clop hippedy hippedy hop bibbedy' (your reviewer was there) is obviously deserving of the highest respect possible. Lee 'Scratch' Perry - Wonderman Years. Dble CD. (Trojan - TJDDD052) Wonder-fully rare reggae from the early 70's. Many of these recordings have not made it to to CD as they were on Perry's(now hugely collectable) Justice League inprint label. The 2CD collection features an array of leading reggae acts, including Bob Marley, junior Byles,Dennis Alcapone, Big Youth and Augustus Pablo.

Lee 'Scratch' Perry - Scratch The Upsetters Again. CD. (Trojan - CDTRL352) This is actually a two on one re-issue of two of Scratch's early 70s masterpiece albums: Scratch The Upsetters Again and Eastwood Rides Again. An excelllent place to start if you want to delve into this creative reggae producer's work.
