Wild collection of unreleased material which varies in quality, but contains nothing that is unlistenable. It features live recordings from their Grande Ballroom heyday,an instrumental take of "Looking At You," and finally "Head Songs (Pt 2). This CD was put together by John Sinclair to demonstrate the band's experimental tendencies and is used to great effect on the 20 minute track, "I'm Mad Like Eldridge Cleaver," featuring the sax noodlings of the group's manager, Sinclair and their savage destruction of the blues nugget "Born Under a Bad Sign".Excellent 12 booklet details all the tracks and contains the 1968 White Panther statement and great pictures.

MC5 - Teenage Lust. CD. (Total Energy - NER3008CD)

Recorded live on New Years Day 1970, the complete concert is presented here in real time, from start to finish, stage banter and all, offering a selection of cuts from the band's first two albums and a couple of unrecorded gems on CD for the first time. One of these is musical equivalent of a mass acid trip,"Black to Comm".In concert this track epitomized what the term psychedelic rock was meant to convey - an open ended, mind altering musical expedition - and as every performance of this track was different this makes the CD worthy of purchase alone! Great 12 page booklet details the concert and the bands wild career.

MC5 - High Time. Pic Disc LP.

Ltd 180 gram picture disc of the third and final album from Detroit punk-revolutionaries The MC5. Dating from 1971, it is probably their most accessible album although still containing the raw energy and power associated with the band. Ignored by the music biz upon release, it is often (mistakenly) perceived as an album bereft of ideas but one listen to Fred 'Sonic' Smith's "Sister Anne" or Wayne Kramer's "Poison" will soon dispel that myth.

180 gram picture disc of MC5's second album, dating from 1970, although not having the immediate impact of 'Kick Out The Jams' is perhaps better and certainly more influential. An obvious influence on 70s punk bands such as The Damned, Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers as well as creating something of a blueprint for the guitar-driven power pop bands that were to appear that decade. Featuring cover versions of Chuck Berry's "Back In The USA" and Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" as well as nine band originals, it's an essential purchase.
