Mad Dog - Dawn Of The Seventh Sun. LP. (RD Records - RD12)

Heavy Westcoast psych gem of the highest order that was unreleased at the time (late 60's) and features some of the greatest mind-bending material you've ever heard. Three of the songs were used in a low-budget biker flick called 'Black Angels'. However, this release is actually the result of research into The Zoo, who are featured on 'Presents Chocolate Moose' and comes from recordings that were made under the name Mad Dog. Essential for all psych fans. Snap it up before it disappears again.

Mad Dog - 617. CD. (Mr Nobody - MN3)

Minimalist and strange hard rock album from bluesy pwer trio with sludge punk edge.. The cover is a b/w drawing of an outer space scene with a bunch of headless naked female bodies, and the record is just as stark and mysterious. Though the cover says the songs were recorded between 1974 and 1976 the music has an early punk rock feel with thick distortion on the rhythm guitars and no apparent instrumental overdubs. The drumming is fast and frantic- however the most curious thing about the album is its mood (completely bleak, sounding like nothing else and appearing to have no specific influences). Limited to 1000 copies.
