Minnie Riperton - Come To My Garden. CD. (Castle - CMRCD550) Minnie's seminal 1971 debut soul album gets the re-issue treatment. Produced by the great Charles Stepney this is arguably her finest work. Minnie's fantastic vocals sit in a suite of shimmering soulful tracks that mix strings, horns, jazzy piano and slight touches of bouncing rhythms. The overall sound crosses Burn Bacharach with Scott Walker and Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On. The album is pure genius-a highlight of the Chicago soul scene.

Minnie Riperton - Love Lives Forever. CD. (EMI - 391 7462) Posthumous album, originally released in 1980. A soulful, charming collection, it's seven tracks are full of joy and sadness that act as a perfect showcase for her five octave vocals. Minnie's contributions were recorded in 1978, a year before she was tragically killed; the album was finished off by a selection of famous friends including Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson and prodcued the hit single "Here We Go."
