Ohio Players - Ecstasy. CD. (Westbound - CDSEWJ 226) First reworking of the Ohio Players final Westbound album in 15 years upgraded from the original masters and including 5 bonus tracks. This album saw them capitalise on the success of their big hit ‘Funky Worm’ of the previous year.That hit had established them as serious players in the R&B market, something that was to see them through nearly 30 hits in 20 years and a total of five #1s including the evergreen ‘Love Rollercoaster’. ‘Ecstasy’ saw the ballad consolidate with a healthy album chart position and the Top 20 chart position of the title track·This reissue includes for the first time on CD 4 tracks from the 'Rattlesnake' album that was released by Westbound after the group had signed to Mercury. The tracks here were overdubbed by members of Funkadelic particularly notable in the guitar. Ohio Players - Trespassin'. CD. (Snapper / Charly - SNAP156CD) Twenty track collection of recording made by this highly successful Funk group between '68 and '69. This period is important in the bands history because this is when they were first developing into more than just another funk band, inspired by Sly and Miles Davis, the Players were spreading their wings into soul and jazz territories. Includes: "Over The Rainbow" (a reworking of the Judy Garland classic), "Lonely Streets At Midnight " and "Mother-In-Law."

Ohio Players - Skin Tight / Fire. CD. (B.G.O. Records - BGOCD747) The funk band's first two Mercury Records releases on one CD. This was where the group changed from being a regular on Black radio to world stars. Happily this wasn't at the expense of their unpredictable jazz, funk tunes, perhaps more focussed than before, the group finally got the exposure they deserved and lived up to their artistic potential. Digitally remastered, slip-cased and with extensive new notes.

Ohio Players - Honey / Contradiction. CD. (B.G.O. Records - BGOCD760) Two fer one. Refocussing their sound into shorter, sharper funk tunes was a huge step forward for the Ohio based soul group. Add that to the mix of bubblegum pop funk and latin tinged ballads and you have a collection of high class trackss here. A great place to start with this group, these releases are a real peak in their career. Released in 75 and 76. Digitally remastered and slipcased.
