Peggy Lee / George Shearing - Beauty And The Beat. CD. (Blue Note - 5423082) Originally released as a live album, the tracks were in fact recorded in the studio with canned applause put on after (sadly the audience has gone for this CD release). The pair had never worked together before recording these fourteen tracks in 1959. The pair skillfully run through some standards of the time, aranging them into Blues and Swing numbers that suit their pairing perfectly. This late night, laid back affair highlights the two performer's fabulous working relationship that sadly never went further than this album and a few live performances.
