Rain - Live, Christmas Night. CD. (Radioactive - RRCD110)

Another custom-pressed rarity to delight and amaze, this time from the New York outfit, Rain which appeared in 1971 on the Whazoo label (USR3046). So rare that even average copies are fetching up to $500. The lads assembled a cohort of their chums, clearly awash with Christmas spirit, to cheer them through a selection of Stones (and other's) covers. As one Rain devotee recently enthused, "Anyone for this one helluva rawkin' gem! These guys sound like the Rolling Stones on crack. The vocalist has Jagger down to a T, the only real difference here...they really do turn the amps up to 11. But as for the music....it's jammy and twice as better [sic] than anything the Stones could ever conjure". So there you have it. Ignore this album at your peril! Now a sadly deleted Radioactive title.LAST THREE COPIES.

Rain - Rain. CD. (Mason Records - MR 56450)

Reissue of 1972 anglophile album by this US band that is much praised in the Acid Archives book. Great songwriting, high quality arrangements, stunning guitar work, and swirling keyboards abound on this lost early 70's U.S. rock/psych/progressive/pop album which has been long overdue for a reissue. At times the band sound like early Yes or other bands British bands like Fantasy, Gracious or Cressida whilst the vocalist is a dead ringer for Colin Blunstone circa Zombies Odessey and Oracle! Originally issued on Enoch Light's high end Hi Fi label.
