Ghost - Overture. CD + DVD.
(Label: Drag City, Cat.No: DC330CD)

Click for large image At sunset on the night of October 9th, 2006, a crowd gathered at Nippon Yusen Soko, a converted warehouse space located on Yokahama Bay. Their purpose: to see and hear new music played by Ghost. Once they had completely arrived, the doors were shut and locked and the announcement made: no one would enter or exit the space until the performance was complete. Starting in complete darkness, the performance was spun, like yarn from a cocoon. The set for this evening was not just new to the audience. For this event, Ghost played entirely improvised material. Improvisation is the wellspring of creation for Ghost, both live and in the studio, though they’ve never made an entire album of improvisations until now. In order to not miss a single inspiration, Ghost brought their orchestra’s-worth of instrumentation, playing bass, drums, piano, electric and acoustic guitars, saxophones, flute, tin-whistle, bells, frame drums, lute, tabla-baya, waterphone and even tapes! The CD performance is an edited version of the evening’s events, but the DVD is a completely live, four-camera view into the collective journey of Ghost and their audience. In addition to the sounds and sights of the band in action, the viewer will also experience the atmospheres created by Overheads, whose far-ranging light works (and subtle placement of a lace curtain) enhanced the mood within Nippon Yusen Soko that night.

LSD March - Constellation Of Tragedy. CD.
(Label: Important Records, Cat.No: IMPREC164)

Click for large image One of the most interesting and appealing psychedelic bands currently working in Japan, and that's saying a lot when you realise that Japan has cultivated one of the most progressive and diverse psychedelic scenes in existence! This is their sixthfull length release, their most well recorded and refined album to date.

Suishou No Fune - Shining Star - Live. CD.
(Label: Important Records, Cat.No: IMPREC165)

Click for large image Formed in 1999 by guitarists Pirako Kurenai and Kageo, they were quickly acknowledged in Japan for their unique take on Japanese psychedelic traditions. Heavy lyrical emotion transcends linguistic barriers and Pirako's blown out fuzzy free-dream guitar work is an alternate universe psychedelic Japanese shoegaze.

Acid Mothers / GuruGuru - Psychedelic Navigator. CD.
(Label: Important Records, Cat.No: IMPREC 160 CD)

Click for large image Featuring Mani Neumeier as well as Kawabata Makoto and Atsushi Tsuyama, this is a trans-generational psychedelic collaboration of the highest order. Beginning as a spontaneous session in March of 2006 in Nagoya Japan, the trio wer eso excited that they decided to push the group forward, this is the result of their adventures, a fiery fantasy filled, loud/soft masterpiece.

Japrocksampler - By Julian Cope - Signed Copy With "Obi Strip". Book.
(Label: , Cat.No: 0747589453)

Click for large image Unique account of the Japanese rock phenomenon from a legendary rock musician with an army of fans. Julian Cope, eccentric and visionary rock musician, hip archaeologist and one time frontman of Teardrop Explodes, follows the runaway underground success of his book Krautrock sampler with Japrock sampler, a cult deconstruction of Japanese rock music. Japrock sampler reveals what really happened when East met West after World War Two and the mayhem that ensued ... and is a must for anybody interested in modern music and Japanese culture. It explores the clash between traditional, conservative Japanese values and the wild rock 'n' roll renegades of the 1960s and 70s and tells the tale of six seminal groups of artists in Japanese post-war culture, from itinerant art-house poets to violent refusenik rock groups with a penchant for plane hijacking. The book concludes with enticing reviews of Julian's Top 50 Jap Rock albums.THESE FIRST EDITIONS ARE SIGNED COPIES BY JULIAN AND HAVE AN EXCLUSIVE OBI STRIP. 304 pages . Hardback. Illustrated with seminal photographs and extraordinary Jap Rock album designs.

White Heaven - Levitation. CD.
(Label: farside, Cat.No: FARSIDE003CD)

Click for large image Cult guitarist Michio Kurihara and crew, created this awesome psychedelic cranium damaging noise masterpiece in Tokyo 1988. It was originally released as a 700 only LP release that sold out instantly thereby rendering it instant cult status with a scarcity value that beggars belief. This has to be the most sought after album of its genre and makes Les Rallizes Denudes look positively commonplace and as we all know, they are NOT! With a Quicksilver-Lysergic damaged sound, this band has to be heard, and here you have possibly the last chance to do this. Being strictly Limited to 500 copies only, Worldwide, they won't even touch the floor, don't miss this golden opportunity! This hideously rare album is being re-issued here with three BONUS TRACKS!

Acid Mothers Temple / Kawabata Makoto - Hosana Mantra. CD.
(Label: Important Records, Cat.No: IMPREC15CD)

Click for large image CD release of the 2007 solo album by the Acid Mothers Temple leader. Created after a days listening to experimental music with his italian friends Pierpaolo and Pasquale (and inspired by the '70's Popul Vuh album "Hosianna Mantra"), he quickly recorded his latest cosmic vision. A thing of genuine beauty, it features Makoto on electric guitar, sitar and bouzouki. Included are the bonus tracks previously only available on the free 7" found on the first 100 copies of the LP edition.

LSD March - Empty Rubious Red. LP.
(Label: Tequila Sunrise, Cat.No: TS12005LP)

Click for large image japanese avant-pysch artists lsd march. for those of you already living a couple of years ahead of the rest of us, you will know that this will be the fifth full length by this band, and that it was originally released in 2006 on their own white elephant imprint (a longer version of empty rubious red was reissued later that year as a limited edition cd on the incredible archive label), both versions sold out in about a minute. It's actually more like a solo outing by lsdm front-man shinsuke michishita (on voice, guitar, bass and percussion), accompanied on two tracks by legendary drummer ikuro takahashi (high rise, fushitsusha, tamio shiraishi, kosokuya, che-shizu, maher shalal hash baz, nagisa ni te, etc). most of the songs here are intimate, in-your-inner-ear ballads, hypnagogic and melancholic, achy hangovers from the third velvets LP ' sorrowful birds' on the last tree in the universe, thinking themselves into being, then forgetting themselves, then remembering again. except for the title track, that is –an 8-minute doppler-effect trance that gets you wasted on polonium 210, sets the dials of the kabbalah for the heart of the sun, and clicks "send.". We could describe the overall sound here as late night psych. European manufactured 180 gram lp housed in a stoughton old-style sleeve with j-card style obi. Limited edition

Mad 3 - Lost Tokyo. CD.
(Label: Captain Trip, Cat.No: RNR2)

Click for large image Eddie Legend (Guitar Hero,ex The 5.6.7.8's) is the god sent saviour of rock n' roll. This man absorbed punk, mod and Garage early on and conspired with friends Haruto(Bass) and Kyo (Drums) in 1989 to become Mad 3. This 2006 gem is Mad 3's masterpiece of their 17 years career. This album was produced by themselves, including art work and distribution(Japan only), and was constructed in a fortress of mystery in Yokkaichi, industry city. It's 13 instrumental acid garage tracks of Japanese R&R which explodes with "Lost Tokyo" as the anthem. The track, "Spy From Kyoto" was recorded in England 2005 during their last UK tour. This song was produced by Mad 3's big fan, Gabba (ex-Chaos U.K. famous 80's UK punk band) . This album is totally instrumental letting the music speak for itself by sending us into another world. Mini card gatefold sleeve with gold foil printing! Very limited.

Boredoms - Super Roots 6. CD.
(Label: Very Friendly, Cat.No: VF039CD)

Click for large image Issued in both Japan and America in 1996, this seventte ntrack album is very likely to be more of an Eye solo album despite the crediting of oter band members Hira, Yamamoto, Yoshimi P-We, and ATR/Atari. Apart from the odd moment of noise, this must be the most gentle of all the Super Roots albums; meditative, self-aware, and pregnant with breaks and beats.

Boredoms - Super Roots 7. CD.
(Label: Very Friendly, Cat.No: VF040CD)

Click for large image Japanese only EP featuring cover material. Super Roots 7 will sound familiar to Mekons fans as it’s an extended cover of the group’s second single "Where Were You." The three Krautrocky tracks embrace synthesizers more fully than any previous release: "Boriginal" is the groups twenty minute celebration of the Mekons twentieth anniversary as an active band, the two book end tracks are Eye-sanctioned remixes. They manage to be rocky and repetitive while still grasping for a unifying melody. Brilliant ballsy music.

Boredoms - Super Roots 8. CD.
(Label: Very Friendly, Cat.No: VF041CD)

Click for large image Japanese only EP featuring cover material. This time they are tackling the theme to the TV show Jungle Taitei. This otherwise majestic track is sliced into thousands of pieces by 250 BPM beyond-gabber drum programming. This is followed by the spacey 2Laughter Robot’s Hemp Mix", a phased dub tinged version that brings the listener back down. Insane.

Andromelos - Andromelos. CD.
(Label: Ektro, Cat.No: EKTRO041)

Click for large image ANDROMELOS is a psychedelic supergroup formed by Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple, Nishinihon, Musica Transonic, Mainliner, Gong...), Yamazaki Maso (Masonna, Space Machine) and Okano Futoshi (Nishinihon, ex Subert Blaze, ex Ghost) - Space rock of the highest order here.

Routes - Left My Mind. CD.
(Label: Motorsounds Records, Cat.No: MSR002CD)

Click for large image Staggering 2007 Japanese psychedelic garage rock album - Listen to me now people, The Routes are the real thing, I’ve heard them produce their glorious sounds, on their four track tape machine that needs hitting with a hammer, bribing and threatened just to make it work, for a while now, and what’s the end result, this album. They’re AUTHENTIC, they don’t just sound authentic, they are authentic, and that’s important, these days more than ever. if this record doesn’t make you dance, and dancing is good, your dead in your soul, you’re a shadow, and need to smile more than any other human being on earth.Garage, RnB, Rock n Roll with punk attitude, call it what you like, ..it’s genius.
